Overview
Oxygen saturation (SpO2) is the
percentage oxyhemoglobin (HbO2) of
all hemoglobin (Hb) and is an
important physiological parameter in
respiration, circulation, and the human
body in general. The oxygen saturation
of arterial blood is normally 98%. In
general, the normal values of oxygen
saturation should not be lower than
94%. If the measured value of oxygen
saturation is lower than 94%, an
insufficient amount of oxygen is being
delivered to the body.
Pulse rate is a measure of heart beats
per minute. The pulse rate of an adult is
normally between 60 to 90 beats per
minute.
The Perfusion Index (PI) is the ratio of
pulsatile blood flow vs static blood in
peripheral tissue. The PI of a normal
adult is 3% or higher. Examination can
