5. Commissioning
Before plugging in, check to see that the
rated mains voltage and mains frequency, as
stated on the rating label, match your power
supply.
Before commissioning the charger, ensure
that the air slots are free. Minimum distance
to other objects is 5 cm.
5.1
Self-test
Insert mains supply plug.
The warning display (2), the operating indicator (1)
and the refresh mode indicator (4) light up
simultaneously for approx. 1 second and the
installed fan runs for approx. 1 second.
6. Use
6.1
Charging battery pack
Slide the battery pack (6) onto the guide slots (5) up
to the stop until the two release tabs (7) latch into
place. (see illustration, page 1).
A battery pack that is new or has not been used for
some time only reaches full capacity after being
charged and discharged several times.
The operating indicator (1) flashes.
If necessary, the fan installed in the charger starts
up to cool the battery pack.
Note: To have the charge level displayed on Li-ion
battery packs, first take the battery pack out of the
charger and then press the button on the battery
pack.

6.2
Conservation charge
Once the charging process has finished, the battery
charger automatically switches to conservation
mode.
The battery pack can remain in the battery charger
and is therefore always ready for use. However,
never leave the battery pack in a disconnected
battery charger because of the possibility of
exhaustive discharge and damage to the battery
cells.
The operating display (1) lights up continuously.
6.3
Refresh mode
NiCd battery packs may discharge naturally by
themselves and the cells in the battery pack may
assume different charging states.
The full power of a battery pack may no longer be
available as a result. If you suspect that the battery
is suffering from this effect, you can use refresh
mode to restore full power back to the battery pack,
depending on its age.
Only for NiCd battery packs – not for Li-ion battery
packs. Use a maximum of once a month for each
battery pack.
1) Slide the battery pack up to the stop.
2) Press the refresh mode button (3) until the refresh
mode indicator (4) flashes.
Refresh mode stops automatically after approx. 8
hours. The battery pack is then fully charged.
Note: The battery pack can be removed from the
charger at any time, thereby interrupting refresh
mode.
When the operating indicator (1) lights up
continuously, this signals the end of refresh mode.
Leaving the battery charger switched on with the
battery pack still attached keeps the battery pack at
full charge and available for use at any time.
6.4
Removing battery pack
Press in the two release tabs (7)and remove the
battery pack.
7. Fault
7.1
Warning display (2) lights up
continuously
• Battery pack is not charged. Excessive/
Insufficient temperature. When the temperature
of the battery pack is between 0 °C and 50 °C, the
charging process begins automatically.
7.2
Warning display (2) flashes
