CAUTION!
- Be careful when descaling the appliance to prevent damage to furniture or clothing.
- Do not use vinegar or vinegar concentrate to descale the appliance.
- Do not use citric acid to descale the appliance.
- Descale the water reservoir with a suitable descaling agent.
- Let the descaling agent soak in.
- Thoroughly rinse the water reservoir with clean water.
DESCALING
- Use the kettle to boil a cup of clean water.
- Press the lid release button to open the top lid and pour out the remaining water.
- Fill the water reservoir to the maximum level with a descaling agent that is suitable for the kettle.
Mix the descaling agent with water as instructed on the package of the descaling agent.
- Use a big cup to collect the descaling agent.
- Switch on the kettle and boil the mixture down to the minimum level indicator.
- Open the top lid and pour out any remaining descaling mixture.
- Fill the water reservoir with clean water.
- Switch on the kettle to allow the clean water to run through the appliance.
- Repeat this step until the water in the appliance remains completely clean.

- CAUTION: Do not operate the kettle on an inclined plane
- Do not operate the kettle unless the element is fully immersed
- Place the kettle on a sturdy and stable surface.
- Never immerse the kettle in water or any other liquid.
- The exterior can become quite hot. Only pick up the kettle using the handle.
- Ensure that the appliance is not so close to the edge of a table, counter top etc, that someone could
knock it over. Do not allow the cord to hang over the edge or on the floor, as someone may become
entangled in it or trip over it. Remember: the appliance contains hot water!
- Do not use the equipment if it is damaged, or if the cord is damaged. In that case, send it to our Service
Department. With this type of appliance, a damaged cord should only be replaced by our service
department using special tools.
- Do not place the appliance on or directly adjacent to a warm hotplate or other source of heat.
- Always unplug the appliance before cleaning or if any fault develops.
- Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
- The use of this appliance by persons, including children, with a physical, sensory, mental or motorial
disability, or lack of experience and knowledge can give cause to hazards. Persons responsible for their
safety should give explicit instructions or supervise the use of the appliance.
U.K. WIRING INSTRUCTIONS
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code:
BLUE
BROWN
GREEN/YELLOW EARTH
As the colours of the wire in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the colour
markings identifying the terminals on your plug, proceed as follows:
The wire which is coloured BLUE must be connected to the terminal which is marked with
the letter N or coloured black.
The wire which is coloured BROWN must be connected to the terminal which is marked
with the letter L or coloured red.
The wire which is coloured GREEN/YELLOW must be connected to the terminal which is
marked with the letter E or
If a 13Amp (BS1363) plug is used, a 13Amp (BS1362) fuse must be fitted, or if any other
type of plug is used, a 13Amp fuse must be fitted, either in the plug or adaptor, or on the
Distribution Board.
