Determining the rotary field
direction
The voltage testers feature a two-pole
rotary field direction detector.
Observe safety measures.
The rotary field direction detector is always
active, the LED [
However, the rotary field direction can be
determined only in a three-phase system
between the external conductors. The
instrument displays the voltage between
two external conductors.
•
Connect the handle test probe (1) to
the presumed phase L1 and the instru-
ment test probe (2) to the presumed
phase L2.
•
Grip appliance handle completely in the
grip area (11)!
If the presumed external conductor L1 is the
actual external conductor L1, and the pre-
sumed external conductor L2 is the actual
external conductor L2, the right-hand rotary
field is displayed, i.e. the LED for rotary field

In the check test with interchanged test
probes the LED for rotary field [

Measurement point illumination
(VP-710, VP-720 only)
The voltage testers feature measurement
point illumination (4) by means of a white
LED. This facilitates work under poor light-
ing conditions (e.g. distributors, control cab-
inets).
•
To activate the measurement point illu-
mination, press the pushbutton for
measurement point illumination (12)
Maintenance
According to the operating instructions the
voltage testers do not require any special
maintenance for operation. However, if a
malfunction occurs during operation, our
factory service department will test the
instrument immediately.
If the instrument is not used for a pro-
longed period, the batteries must be
removed, as leaking batteries may be
hazardous and cause damage (VP-710,
VP-720 only).
Cleaning
Before cleaning, disconnect the voltage
testers from all measuring circuits. If the
instruments have become dirty due to daily
use, they can be cleaned with a damp cloth
and a little mild household detergent. Never
use aggressive detergents or solvents for
cleaning. After cleaning, do not use the
instrument until it is completely dry.
