Splinter Guard (see figure E)
The splinter guard 18 (accessory) can prevent
fraying of the surface while sawing wood. The
splinter guard can only be used for certain saw
blade types and only for cutting angles of 0°.
When sawing with the splinter guard, the base
plate 6 must not be moved back for cuts that are
close to the edge.
Press the splinter guard 18 from the bottom into
the base plate 6.
Operation
Operating Modes
Before any work on the machine itself, pull
the mains plug.
Orbital Action Settings
The four orbital action settings allow for optimal
adaptation of cutting speed, cutting capacity
and cutting pattern to the material being sawed.
The orbital action can be adjusted with the ad-
justing lever 7, even during operation.
No orbital action
Small orbital action
Medium orbital action
Large orbital action
The optimal orbital action setting for the respec-
tive application can be determined through
practical testing. The following recommenda-
tions apply:
– Select a lower orbital action setting (or
switch it off) for a finer and cleaner cutting
edge.
– For thin materials such as sheet metal,
switch the orbital action off.
– For hard materials such as steel, work with
low orbital action.
– For soft materials and when sawing in the di-
rection of the grain, work with maximum or-
bital action.
Adjusting the Cutting Angle (see figure F)
The base plate 6 can be swivelled by 45° to the
left or right for mitre cuts.
Bosch Power Tools
– Remove the dust cover 12 (see "Dust Cover",
page 20).
– Loosen the screw 20 and lightly slide the base
plate 6 in the direction of the saw blade 10.
– For adjustment of precise mitre angles, the
base plate has adjustment notches on the
left and right at 0° and 45°. Swivel the base
plate 6 to the desired position according to
the scale 19. Other mitre angles can be ad-
justed using a protractor.
– Afterwards, push the base plate 6 to the stop
in the direction of the vacuum connection 5.
– Tighten the screw 20 again.
The dust cover 12 and the splinter guard 18 can-
not be used when performing mitre cuts.
Offsetting the Base Plate (see figure G)
For sawing close to edges, the base plate 6 can
be offset to the rear.
– Completely unscrew the screw 20 using the
Allen key 3.
– Take the base plate 6 off and remount it off-
set again so that the screw 20 can be
screwed into the rear bolt hole 22.
– Before tightening the screw 20, push the
base plate 6 toward the vacuum connection
5 until it engages.
Sawing with the base plate 6 offset is possible
only with a mitre angle of 0°. In addition, the
parallel guide with circle cutter 26 (accessory)
as well as the splinter guard 18 may not be used.
Sawdust Blower Device
With the air jet of the sawdust blower device 8,
the cutting line can be kept free of dust and
chips.
Switching on the sawdust blow-
er device:
For cuts in materials with high
removal rate, such as in wood,
plastic, etc., push the switch 8
toward the vacuum connection.
Switching off the sawdust blow-
er device:
For cuts in metal and when a
dust extraction system is con-
nected, push the switch 8 to-
ward the saw blade.
