Maintaining the Collecting Pit and Anaerobix Filter
Once the collecting put is half-filled, this must be emptied.
A certified firm must dispose of the sewage sludge.
Maintenance process:
1) Remove the safety screw and take off the cover -View the opening of the tank.
2) Be mindful of any toxic gases which can escape from the walk-on opening to the collecting pit
(methane, hydrogen sulphide) - Do not smoke.
3) Remove the sacks from the prefilter and clean them off with a hose.
4) The sludge is removed from the collecting pit. The sludge is suctioned off.
5) During removal, 80 -100 mm of sludge must remain in the plant.
6) The collecting put is filled with clean water.
7) Using a high-pressure cleaner, clean the two bags with filter elements. Examine their integrity and
replace where necessary.
8) Put the two bags back into the prefilter again.
9) Reattach the cover and seal with the safety screw.
8.2
Maintaining the Batch Feeding Tank
1. Take off the cover to the tank.
2. Clean the tank, remove residual solids and floating materials and make sure the float can move
freely.
3. Close the cover to the batch feeding tank.
8.3
Maintaining the Piping
1. The piping above the distribution shaft and above the exit shaft must be cleaned with a pipeline
pig or a water pipe.
2. After cleaning, the water must drain through the piping without it building up in the exit shaft.
8.4
Maintaining the Shafts
Check the shafts at regular intervals for contamination and clean where necessary.
