Assembly
 Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains
plug.

Auxiliary Handle

 Operate your machine only with the auxiliary handle 5.
Screw the auxiliary handle 5 into the thread 4 on the gear
head.
Changing the Tool (see figure A)
Drilling tools with a MK3 morse taper can be inserted directly
into the tool holder 1. For drill bits with MK2 morse taper, use
the reducing sleeve 10.
Pay attention that the morse cone and the morse taper are
free of grease.
The use of drilling tools with cylindrical shank is possible with
the key chuck 12. For this, screw the tapered arbor 11 onto
the key chuck 12 and insert the tapered arbor with the reduc-
ing sleeve 10 into the tool holder 1.
 Do not exert any force when inserting the morse taper
or the tapered arbor. This can damage the tool holder and
the inserted tool.
Place the drift 9 into the opening 2 in such a manner that the
rounded-off side faces to the auxiliary handle 5.
If the drift 9 cannot be inserted through the drive spindle, turn
the tool insert a little.
Press the drift 9 toward the auxiliary handle 5 and release the
tool insert from out of the tool holder.

Dust/Chip Extraction

 Dusts from materials such as lead-containing coatings,
some wood types, minerals and metal can be harmful to
one's health. Touching or breathing-in the dusts can cause
allergic reactions and/or lead to respiratory infections of
the user or bystanders.
Certain dusts, such as oak or beech dust, are considered
as carcinogenic, especially in connection with wood-treat-
ment additives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials
containing asbestos may only be worked by specialists.
– Provide for good ventilation of the working place.
– It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class respirator.
Observe the relevant regulations in your country for the mate-
rials to be worked.
 Prevent dust accumulation at the workplace. Dusts can
easily ignite.
Bosch Power Tools

Gear selection, mechanical
 Actuate the gear selector 3 only when the machine is at
a standstill.
Four speed ranges can be preselected with the gear selector
3. Press the gear selector 3 down, slide it to the requested
setting according to the gearing diagram and allow it to en-
gage at the respective end position.
1st gear:
Low speed range; for working with
large drilling diameter.
2nd gear:
Average speed range.
3rd gear:
Average speed range.
4th gear:
High speed range; for working with
small drilling diameter.
If the gear selector 3 cannot be slid to the stop, lightly rotate
the drive spindle via the drill bit.
Switching On and Off
To start the machine, press the On/Off switch 7 and keep it
pressed.
To lock the pressed On/Off switch 7, press the lock-on button
6.
