2 Safety Notes

The unit corresponds to the directive for electromag-
netic compatibility 89/336/EEC and to the low volt-
age directive 73/23/EEC.
The unit is operated with mains voltage (230 V~).
When installing the module into a speaker cabinet,
never connect the module to the mains voltage.
Disconnect the mains plug from the socket! Other-
wise an electric shock may result which is hazard-
ous to your life.
Please observe the following items in any case:
The unit is suitable for indoor use only. Protect it
against humidity and heat (admissible ambient
temperature range 0 – 40 °C).
Do not operate the unit and immediately disconnect
the plug from the mains socket
1. if there is visible damage to the unit or to the
mains cable,
2. if a defect might have occurred after the unit was
dropped or suffered a similar accident,
3. if malfunctions occur.
In any case, the unit must be repaired by author-
ized personnel.
Never pull the mains cable to disconnect the mains
plug from the socket.
For cleaning only use a dry soft cloth, by no means
chemicals or water.
If the unit is used for other purposes than originally
intended, if it is not connected or operated in the
correct way or not repaired by authorized person-
nel, no liability for any damage will be accepted.
If the unit is to be put out of operation permanently,
take it to a local recycling plant for disposal.
3 Applications
The module SAM-1 is a completely assembled 120 W
power amplifier with power supply unit and has been
designed for installation into a 4 Ω or 8 Ω speaker
cabinet. Due to the integrated 12 dB subwoofer cross-
over network, both an active subwoofer cabinet and
an active full range speaker cabinet can be realized.
The module and the connected speaker are protected
by a 24 dB subsonic filter and comprehensive protec-
tive circuits (against short circuit, overheating, direct
voltage content at the output).
It is the particular advantage of the SAM-1 when
operated as a subwoofer that this active subwoofer
can be placed at any location in the listening room. By
means of corresponding controls for the level and the
phase, an optimum adjustment to the main speakers
can be obtained.
