DEMOUNTING
instructions for demounting tires

PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS

» Fully deflate the tire (unnecessary for tubeless tires).
» Any balancing weights on the wheel represent and hazard and must be
removed.
HYDRAULIC BEAD-BREAKING
» Lower the lift trolley with the relevant control pedal.
» Put the wheel onto the mobile section of the lift (fig.14) and raise using
the relevant control pedal until the height of the fixed surface is reached
(fig.15).
» Position the wheel on the fixed surface, sliding it on the mobile rollers
and aligning the central hole with the locking flange.
» Lower the lift trolley with the relevant control pedal so that the locking
flange engages with the central rim hole with the drive pin in one of the
fixing holes.
» Lock the wheel with the relevant cone, screwing the wing nut onto the
locking flange (fig.16).
» Position the upper roller (with mechanical hand) and the lower roller
(with mechanical hand) as close as possible to the rim flange (see
control panel) (fig.17).
» While rotating the chuck plate, move both rollers forward until past the
two rim flanges (fig.18).
» Move the head close to the rim so that it touches the internal rim flange.
» Keeping the arm in position manually insert the lever between the
bead and the head (fig.19).
» Raise the bead with the lever and place it on the tongue of the head
(fig.20).
» If the extraction of the bead proves difficult, use the helper to keep the
tire down.
» Keeping the lever still, rotate the chuck by pressing pedal (fig.21) until
the bead comes entirely out of the rim.
» Repeat the same operation to extract the lower bead.
Operate with care and avoid inserting fingers between the
tire and the rim while the rotating the chuck.
» Raise the head arm and move to the neutral position then extract the
inner-tube (unnecessary with tubeless tires).
ALUMINIUM AND LIGHT ALLOY RIMS
To demount tires fitted to aluminium or light alloy rims, follow the normal
demounting procedure (described above) until the raising of the 1st bead,
then:
» Move the lower roller to the tire exerting suitable pressure.
» Remove the bead lever (to avoid damaging the rim flange).
» Rotate clockwise until the first bead is completely demounted.
» Lift the 2nd bead onto the tongue of the tool.
» Move the lower roller to the tire, as above.
» Remove the bead lever (to avoid damaging the rim flange).
» Rotate clockwise until demounting is complete.
