The splitting knife stops automati-
cally in the upper or lower position
(end of travel).

When the log is split, release both
operating levers – The splitting knife
then returns to its starting position.

Remove the split pieces of wood,
and place them off to the side and
out of the immediate work area –
now you are ready to continue split-
ting.

If you do not intend to continue
working immediately, turn the split-
ter OFF by pressing the RED switch
button (24) .

Changing the Start Posi-
tion of the Splitting Knife
In addition to the different positioning of
the support table the splitting knife's
upper starting position can be adapted to
the log length. With the upper starting
position for the splitting knife set lower,
the knife requires less time to approach
the work. The results in a shorter work
cycle.
Lowering the upper starting position
1.
Turn splitter ON (press the GREEN
switch button).
2.
Press both operating levers down-
ward – As soon as the splitting knife
has reached the new desired height,
release the right lever.
3.
Turn splitter OFF (press the RED
switch button).
4.
Loosen screw (28), pull control rod
(29) up until it reaches the stop, then
tighten screw (28) again.

The upper starting position is now
set as desired. Continue to operate
the splitter as described above.
Resetting the upper starting position
1.
Turn splitter OFF (press the RED
switch button).
2.
Loosen screw (28), push control rod
(29) down against the stop and
tighten the screw again.
The upper starting position is now
reset to the maximum height.

7. Care and Maintenance

A
Danger!
Prior to all servicing:
1.
Turn splitter OFF
2.
Unplug power cable
Directly after stopping the splitter, the
hydraulic oil and the hydraulic sys-
tem's parts may be hot! Let the split-
ter cool down before any servicing.
Avoid direct skin contact with hydrau-
lic oil. Wear protective gloves.
Dispose of hydraulic oil in an envi-
ronmentally friendly manner at a
proper waste oil collection point.
When topping up or changing the
hydraulic oil, be sure to use only
approved types of oil (see "Technical
Specifications").
Replace damaged parts, especially
safety devices, only with genuine
replacement parts since parts not
tested and approved by the manu-
facturer can cause unforeseeable
damage.
Repair and maintenance work other
than described in this section should
only be carried out by qualified spe-
cialists.
Check to see that all safety devices
are operational again after each
service.
7.1

Changing the Hydraulic Oil

The hydraulic oil should be changed
after every 500 operating hours.
1.
Move the splitting knife all the way
down, and turn the splitter OFF.

2.
Have a suitable collect vessel of at
least 5 litres capacity ready.
3.
Unscrew the oil reservoir cap (30)
and drain the hydraulic oil reservoir
completely.

Fill up hydraulic oil.
5.
Check oil level. The oil level must
(with lowered splitter column) be
between the max. and min. marks.
6.
Screw oil reservoir cap (30) back on
and open so much that air can
escape from the reservoir.
7.
Let the splitter run idle for several
minutes after the oil change before
using it again.
7.2

Storage

1.
Lower the splitter column fully, and
with it in this position, turn the split-
ter OFF.
2.
Store splitter where it cannot be
used or tampered with by unauthor-
ized persons.

Caution!
Do not store splitter unprotected out-
doors or in damp environment.

Maintenance

Before each use
Check ON/OFF switch and two hand
control buttons for proper functioning.
Inspect hydraulic hoses for damage
(cuts, chafing and kinks).
Inspect lubrication system for leaks.
Every 50 hours of operation
Wipe off all moving/articulated parts
(joints,
hinges
and
splitter
guides) with suitable cloths, then oil
lightly.
Check oil level. The oil level must (with
lowered splitter column) be between the
min. and max. mark.
Every 500 hours of operation
Change hydraulic oil.

A
Four-way Splitting Knife:
This accessory splits logs into four
pieces in one work cycle. With it,
the amount of work cycles can be
cut in half, significantly reducing
overall splitting time.

Hydraulic Oil for topping up and
refilling.
C
Care and Maintenance Spray
For removing resin residue and pre-
serving metal surfaces.

9. Repairs

A
Danger!
Repairs to electric tools must be car-
ried out by qualified electricians only!
Power tools in need of repair can be sent
to the service centre of your country.
Refer to spare parts list for the address.
Please attach a description of the fault to
the electric tool.
