Pressure & Leakage Testing
NOTICE
• Applicable building and construction
codes and regulations, as well as proper
construction practices, require that ALL
WELDS performed with the TRITON
MUST be pressure- and leakage-tested
to confirm the mechanical integrity of the
system BEFORE they are enclosed or
covered and before completion of a job .
NOTICE
TRITON fittings can be pressure tested as soon as the welding job is completed and the fit-
ting is cool to the touch . This can be accomplished using either air or water . Please consult
and follow all applicable building and construction codes and regulations . Please consult and
follow required testing standards and procedures as well as proper construction practices .
If air testing is permitted by the required procedures and practices, we recommend air test
pressure not exceed 100psi for a minimum of 15 minutes .
WARNING
!
• Consult with a licensed and qualified
engineer; follow all local, state and federal
requirements for testing; and carefully
conduct testing in accordance with recog-
nized industry standards .
• Keep all persons at a safe distance during
testing .
• Death, serious personal injury, or property
damage can result from failure of a pipe,
a pipe joint, or a pipe connection during
pressure & leakage testing .
• When pressurized, faulty pipes, joints,
or connections may separate suddenly
causing violent, explosive, and dangerous
movement of piping or parts .

After Use

• Turn Control Unit power switch to Off
position . Unplug Control Unit from power
source . Disconnect Fuser from Fuser
Cord and store properly . Disconnect Fuser
Cord and coil carefully . Do not double coil
the Fuser Cord .
• Leaking, flooding, or breaks in pipes and
joints due to untested welds, improperly
performed welds, incomplete welds,
wrongly sized or constructed welds, or
failure to follow these instructions, can
result in substantial property damage .
NOTICE
It is recommended to use air pres-
sure to test the system. Once water
is introduced to an unfused fitting it
can no longer be fused.
• Restrain piping against possible move-
ment from catastrophic failure at a joint or
connection .
• Correctly made joints do not leak .
Leakage at a joint or connection may
immediately precede catastrophic failure .
• Never approach or attempt to repair or
stop leaks while the test section is pres-
surized .
• Always depressurize the test section
before making repairs .
• Wrap Control Unit Power Cord around
bracket on Control Unit . Return all unused
TRITON Fittings to their original packaging
and store properly for next use .
