SAFETY WARNINGS
Prevent children from using the automatic backwash function. Make sure the water level in the pool
is sufficient when performing backwash
Disconnect power and relieve air pressure during installation and service on the valve.
Use a residual current Device (GFCI) compliant with local regulations with this device.
INTRODUCTION
Thank you for choosing the Pentair ProValve. This product will allow your pool control system to perform
automated backwash on your sand filter. The system is designed for the IntelliPool and ControlPro automation
system. Make sure to have software version 4.14 or higher installed for IntelliPool. Any other pool automation
system having an output dedicated for backwashing is also able to use the ProValve.
Make sure to read the important safety warnings and to make sure this manual is accessible to the users of this
product. Your ProValve is supplied with 63mm unions as well as unions matching the Triton filter. The ProValve
is designed to use compressed air (2.2 up to 3.6 bar) to activate the valve .
A 230V pilot valve as well as tubing is supplied with the filter.
On Triton filters supplied with the ProValve, the distance between the side holes on the filter match those of the
ProValve. This distance is different on other Triton filters.
A specific adapter set (PROV-ADAP) for retrofitting the ProValve onto existing Triton filters is available.
FUNCTION
Figure 1 shows the function of the valve
The ProValve is a pneumatically operated valve with 2 functions.
1. In the 'filter' position pump flow is fed into the upper part of the filter. The filtered water is fed back into the
pool.
2. When activated the valve has a 'backwash' function. In case of a power failure during the backwash operation,
the valve will return to the 'filter position'.
It is recommended to stop the filter pump while the valve is changing position. When using an IntelliPool system
this is being done automatically.
INSTALLATION
Figure 2 shows the installation of the valve on a Triton filter.
Position A connects to the drain/waste
Position B connects to the pump outlet
Position C marks the return to the pool.
The assembly sketch includes the special adapters (PROV-ADAP) required when fitting the ProValve onto existing
Triton filters. These adapters (item D on figure 2) enable correct alignment of the valve connections onto the
filter. Use adhesive for hard PVC on the fittings and make sure to clean/degrease the fitting on beforehand.
These adapters need to be ordered separately.
NOTE:
Make sure to include the threaded collars when preparing the adhesive connections!
