Instructions for use
Connect a coaxial cable (about 50 cm long and with a PL259 connector at both ends) to the
connector for the antenna on the radio and to the TX connector on the SWR/Power meter.
Connect the antenna cable to the ANT connector on the SWR/Power meter.
SWR measurement
Move the PWR/SWR switch to the SWR position.
Move the FWD/REF switch to the FWD position.
Hold down the PTT button on the radio microphone while rotating the CAL knob on the
SWR/Power meter until the needle reaches the SET mark.
Move the FWD/REF switch to the REF position. Now the reflected power will be
indicated on the SWR/Power meter screen.
Leave the switch in the REF position and tune the antenna until you get the lowest value
of the reflected wave.
Note: If the SWR is higher than 2.0:1, either you need to re-tune the antenna or there is a
problem with the cable or the antenna.
Power measurement
Move the PWR/SWR switch to the PWR position.
Move the FWD/REF switch to the 10W or 100W position depending on the output
power of the transceiver (0-10W or 10-100W).
Turn on the transceiver and press the PTT button on the microphone.
Now you can read the power on the Watt scale of the SWR/Power meter.
To get an accurate reading, the SWR should not be higher than 1.5:1.
Warnings
Do not turn on the radio before connecting the antenna and the SWR/Power meter.
Do not disconnect the cable of the antenna while transmitting. The high voltage may
damage the transceiver.
Please do not subject the meter to violent shocks, as this can damage the integrated
sensitive meter.
