position.
6. Removekey frombagand startthe
engine(see "TOSTARTENGINE"in
the Operationsectionofthis manual).
After enginehas started,movethrottle
controlto idle (slow)position.
7o Depressclutch/brake pedal intofull
"BRAKE"positionandhold. Move
gearshiftleverto 1stgear.
8, Slowlyreleaseclutch/brakepedaland
slowly drivetractoroff skid,
9,. Applybraketo stop tractor,set park-
ing brakeand placegearshiftlever in
neutralposition.
10oTurn ignitionkey to "STOP"position.
Continuewith the instructions thatfollow.
CHECK TIRE PRESSURE
The tires on your tractorwere overinflated
atthe factoryfor shippingpurposes. Cor-
recttire pressureis importantfor best
cuttingperformance,
• Reducetire pressureto PSl shownon
tires.
CHECK DECK LEVELNESS
Forbest cuttingresults,mowerhous-
ing shouldbe properlyleveled. See "TO
LEVELMOWER"in the Serviceand
Adjustmentssectionof this manual,
CHECK FOR PROPER POSITION
OF ALL BELTS
See the figuresthatare shownfor replac-
ing motionandmowerbladedrivebelts
inthe ServiceandAdjustments section
of this manual. Verifythatthe beltsare
routedcorrectly.
CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM
After you learnhowto operateyour trac-
tor, checkto seethat the brakeis operat-
ing properly. See"TO CHECKBRAKE"
in the ServiceandAdjustmentssectionof
this manual.
