To replace the chuck, remove the milling spindle from its holder and withdraw the rotary instrument from
the chuck. Insert the shank of the instrument into the chuck to prevent it being pressed together. With
the chuck open, use the chuck key, supplied with the milling machine, to unscrew it from the spindle.
Use a second chuck key to prevent the shaft rotating. Fit the new chuck in the reverse order, ensuring
that it is tightened properly.
With regard to the service life of the chuck, ensure that an instrument is always fitted to it and tightened –
even when it is not in use.
Press the
touch controller to switch the milling spindle on. The instrument fitted to the spindle will
then rotate at the speed selected on the speed controller. The speed can be adjusted progressively while
the instrument is running.
The direction of rotation can also be changed with the
touch controller while the instrument is
running. When the instrument is running anti-clockwise, the speed is automatically limited to 7,500 r.p.m.
7.3 Magnetic model platform
The magnetic model platform is switched on and off with the
touch controller.
7.4 Hinged arm
The hinged arm can be adjusted vertically with the
and
touch controllers.
The feed motor switches off automatically once the highest or lowest positions are reached.
The hinged arm is fixed in the horizontal position by pressing the
touch controller to activate the
pneumatic brake.
The F3 I
includes an instrument change mode which is activated with the
touch controller.
ERGO
The instrument change mode raises the hinged arm 50 mm to allow adequate space for replacing the
instrument in the milling spindle. The same touch controller is then pressed again to return the hinged
arm to its working position. For safety reasons, the instrument change touch controller must be
pressed continually while the arm is moving downwards.
While the hinged arm is in the instrument change mode, LED (G) flashes and the vertical feed touch
controllers are deactivated (Figure 3).
7.5 Drilling unit
Once the locking screw (H) on the left side of the forward feed jig has been loosened, the jig can be
lowered with the lever on the right side. The drilling depth can be read off the scale (I) on the hinged arm.
The depth stop of the jig is adjusted with the micrometer screw (J) (Figure 4).
The sleeve (L) is pulled toward the knob to unlock the forward feed lever (K) and fix it in its vertical posi-
tion.
