Start-up
You have received a mostly pre-assembled Maglogix
manual. Please check the condition of all items upon receipt for any damage incurred during transport, and make
sure the delivery is complete. If you find any problems, please contact the manufacturer immediately.
To complete the assembly (see the following Mounting Options 1 and 2), attach the two internally threaded
Clamping Levers to the two threaded studs of the Pivoting magnet. Insert the threaded stud of the third Clamping
Lever through the hole near the angle viewing window. Make sure that the anti-rotation pin on the Clamping
Washer inserts into the angle slot then thread the clamp into the washer. If you have any problems, please contact
the manufacturer immediately.
1. Follow all safety instructions. Clean the workpieces in the area of attachment and both magnetic contact
areas of the magnetic clamps (see Surface Quality).
Caution: At the beginning of the application, watch for any deformation of the workpiece to the magnetic
contact area when activating the magnetic clamp. If a small distance (air gap) forms between the magnetic
contact area and the workpiece, the magnetic clamp will not reach the stated holding force and could detach
itself. Please check for any air gap developing at the edges of the TiN-coated magnetic contact area. This air
gap can be tested by slipping a sheet of 20 lbs. (80g/m
Immediately stop the application!
Never exceed the dimensions and/or the load-bearing capacity of the values given in
Performance Data,
2. There are many ways the Variable Angle magnet clamps can be positioned to the workpieces. However,
it's recommended that the Base magnet is first located to a secure workpiece and locked into the ON
position for stability before the Pivoting magnet is locked ON to the other workpiece.
3. Release all three angle adjustment clamping levers.
4. Place the magnetic clamps as recommended above, or place both cleaned workpiece surfaces onto each
cleaned magnetic clamp contact area.
Note: Although the magnetic clamps of the Variable Angle Clamp are in their OFF position, they
still have a slight magnetic pre-tensioning in order to avoid inadvertent slippage or dropping of the
Variable Angle Clamp, and/or the workpiece. This pre-tension also allows for ease of positioning
the magnetic clamps to the workpieces.
5. When the desired angle is achieved at the read-out point and angle scale (below), retighten all three angle
adjustment clamping levers with ~44 – 55 in./lbs. force to fix the Variable Angle Clamp in place.
