3. Check the air cleaner element.
Remove the wing nut and air cleaner cover.
Check the air cleaner elements to be sure they are clean and in good condition.
Clean or replace the elements if necessary (see page 27).

CAUTION:
Never run the engine without the air cleaner. Rapid engine wear will result
from contaminants such as dust and dirt being drawn through the carbure-
tor into the engine.
