3.1 Explanation of symbols

DANGER!
... indicates a directly dangerous situation resulting in serious injury or
death, if not avoided.
WARNING!
... indicates a potentially dangerous situation that can result in serious injury
or death, if not avoided.
CAUTION!
... indicates a potentially dangerous situation that can result in light injuries
or damage to property or the environment, if not avoided.
Information
... points out useful tips, recommendations and information for efficient
and trouble-free operation.

3.2 Intended use

The model GIR-10 gas presence detector is suitable for the locating and quantification
of leaks on equipment filled with SF₆ gas or technical air. Besides, the model GIR-10
is used for the determination of leak rates for the final inspection of SF₆ gas-filled or
Clean Air / Dry Air-filled equipment.
Operational safety is thus only ensured when using the instrument for the measurement
of SF₆ gas or CO in air.

The instrument must never come into contact with aggressive gases or liquids.
Use the instrument only in applications that lie within its technical performance limits
(e.g. max. ambient temperature, material compatibility, ...).
→ For performance limits see chapter 9 "Specifications".
This instrument is not permitted to be used in hazardous areas!
The gas presence detector, model GIR-10, has been designed and built solely for the
intended use described here, and may only be used accordingly.
