Commissioning information
The inside of the collectors can overheat if they are exposed to solar irradiation for
longer periods of time without being filled with heat transfer medium. That can be
detrimental to the absorber coating.
Cover the collectors if they are not filled and taken into use immediately after the
installation is completed. Secure any cover against being blown away and only remove
it immediately prior to commissioning.
After correctly installing and connecting all collectors, fit the connector with sensor
well for the flow sensor into the collector array flow on the r.h. side, and secure it. Fit
this connector to the cylinder flow connection.
Also connect the return to the collector on the extreme left of the array. Insulate all
connections in accordance with current technical rules.

through a ventilation tile or through a chimney that is no longer in use.
Only commission the collector if it is free from air locks; ventilate the system again
after a few days in use. An inadequately ventilated solar circuit can result in severe
faults.
The collector must only be operated in a sealed solar system, where the air vent valve
is fitted at the highest point of the system.
Only fill and operate the collector with the heat transfer medium listed under
"Specification". Never fill or operate it with water.
The expansion vessel must be sized for 8 to 10 l / panel. Use a pre-cooling vessel in
larger systems. Sizing on request.
Up to twelve vacuum tube collectors can be linked up as described. When fitting more
than twelve collectors in a single array, connect them in parallel as well.
When linking several collector arrays in parallel, ensure an even flow through the
individual arrays. The connection according to Tichelmann is generally inadequate
for less than 6 individual arrays, since the pressure drop in the arrays is too small and
there is the risk, that an individual array will not receive any throughput. We therefore
recommend the installation of a fixed or adjustable butterfly valve (on-site provision)
at the array outlet.
The path to the safety valve must always remain open. Only this can prevent the
creation of excessive pressure in the system. Ensure that the safety valve has a
response pressure of up to 6 bar.
Generally, the collector system will get very hot during idle periods. This can result in
temperatures as high as 100 °C in the pipework right down to the cellar. Accordingly,
use only temperature resistant components.
