To connect the device to the power supply, use the cable coming out of the
appliance. At its extremity it will be sufficient to connect a suitable plug
equipped with a ground terminal or use the socket included, if present.
Avoid the use of extensions. The power socket to which the battery charger
will be connected must be proportionate to the power of the same charger and
must have incorporated fuses or other standard protection.
Check the plate data regarding:
V– (power supply voltage), KVA (power) and A– (current).
Make sure the ground connection is correct. Any replacement of the power
cable must be performed by competent and authorized personnel.
WARNING! Before connecting the battery make sure that the charger has
been properly programmed by qualified personnel.
Contact your POLAR dealer.
Be careful not to invert the wires when connecting the battery terminals: for
this connection it is advisable to use the appropriate one-way connectors.
Make sure that the contacts between the cables and the connectors, both
towards the power supply and the battery, are in good condition.
The MARS chargers are protected by:
-Polarity inversion by means of electronic protection and replaceable fuse.
If the wires are connected incorrectly, reversing the polarity, a reverse polarity
warning appears on display along also with a repeated "beep" sound.
Polar Mars 2430 and Mars 4815 chargers are provided with reverse polarity
protection only by externally replaceable fuses.
- Accidental breakages, via fuse on the power supply network
- Overloads and short circuits on the output, via electronic protection and fuse
on the direct current circuit
- Overheating of the battery charger. in the case of environmental factors
or occlusions of the cooling system causing overheating, the charger will
gradually decrease the output power without interrupting the charge.
Maintenance must be carried out by specialised and authorised persons.
Control and verification inspections must be done concerning the environment
and operating conditions. Before beginning inspections and maintenance,
ensure the battery and the power supply are disconnected. It is good practice
to check all internal electrical connections periodically. Ensure that cables and
cable lugs do not show overheating due to poor contact. Remove all dust
accumulations.
