CAUTION; BEFORE PERFORMING ANY SERVICE OR ADJUSTMENTS:

Release control bar and stop engine.
o
Make sure the blade and all moving parts have completely stopped.
°
Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug and place where it cannot come in contact with plug.
TO REMOVE/REPLACE
DRIVE BELT (See
Figs. 18-19)
TO REMOVE BELT:

Place mower on side with carburetor up..
o
Rotate rear wheel to access rear skirt screw_
Remove rear skirt°
Use spring puller to remove spring from backplate_
o
Use long screwdriver to remove belt from transmission
pulley groove.
Pull belt from engine pulley side and maneuver over
blade.
TO INSTALL BELT:
°
Maneuver belt around blade onto crankshaft,
Push belt into plastic baffle and onto engine pulley.
°
Use screwdriver to thread belt between cables and
transmission.

Use fingers to push belt into pulley groove,.
°
Use spring puller to install belt tension spring
o
Install rear skirt,
°
Return rear wheel to proper cutting position,
TO ADJUST
DRIVE
CONTROL
(See Fig. 20)
If engagement cable tension needs to be adjusted, proceed
as follows:
Remove control head from upper handle.
°
Remove the cable from the control head and reinstall
cable positioning block in the next slot down from the
bail.
°
Reinstall control to upper handle_
REAR
DEFLECTOR
The rear deflector, attached between the rear' wheels of
your lawn mower, is provided to minimize the possibility
that objects will be thrown out of the rear of the lawn mower
into the operator's mowing position° tf the rear deflector
becomes damaged, it should be replaced_
