● Check your board and equipment before entering the water.
● Avoid going in the water alone. Make sure that somebody knows
where you are going and when you plan to be back.
● Always have some sort of communication should you need help, for
example a mobile phone in a dry bag.
● Check the weather conditions, forecast and tides.
● Avoid paddling when winds are blowing away from shore.
● Be cautious of the effect the tide and water flow can have on your
paddling speed and build this into your route plan.
● Wear wetsuits or dry suits.
● Always wear a life jacket or some sort of floatation device.
● Always wear your board leash.
● It is recommended to take a first aid course and travel with first aid
equipment.
● Do not use this board if you cannot swim.
● Do not go in the water if you are under the influence of alcohol,
drugs or medication.
