• Level the instrument.
• Aim at target A.
• Turn the horizontal circle to "0".
• Aim at target B.
• Read off the horizontal angle.
Circular Vial
• Mount the instrument on a tripod.
• Centre the air bubble in the circular level using foot screws.
• Turn the telescope 180 °.
• If there is a deviation, correct half of it by turning the adjusting screws on
the circular vial.
• Turn the telescope back by 180 °.
• Centre the air bubble in the circular vail using the foot screws and repeat
the process until the air bubble remains in the centre of the circle.
Checking Compensator
• Mount the instrument on a tripod and level it.
• Focus a target (levelling staff) approx. 10 m away and take a reading L
• Turn a foot screw ½ a turn to the left or right.
• The crosshairs must settle back into the previous position of the reading

• If this is not the case, the levelling instrument must be sent to an
authorized workshop or the manufacturer for inspection.
Check and adjust line of sighting
• Choose a distance of approx. 30 m in flat terrain.
• Set up a levelling staff at both end points (A, B).
• Set up the instrument in the middle between A and B and level it.
• Read off both staffs and calculate the difference in height ΔH1.
• Set up the instrument approx. 1 m in front of staff A, read off both staffs
and calculate ΔH2.
• If the difference is greater than 3 mm, adjust the line of sight.
• The line of sight is adjusted by turning the adjusting screws on the ocular.
