LIGHT HOODS USER MANUAL - ENGLISH
Important
For your own safety please read and remember the following instructions
before use. If you have any questions, please contact the manufacturer
or your distributor. Keep the manual for future reference.
1. Introduction
CleanAIR
is a personal respiratory protection system based on the prin-
®
ciple of creating an overpressure of filtered air in the breathing zone.
The respirator filters the air taken from the surrounding environment
and then delivers it into the protective hood. The overpressure prevents
contaminants from entering the breathing zone. This mild overpressure
ensures the wearer's comfort, even with long-term use. Breathing re-
mains easy because the user does not have to overcome the resistance
of the filter. The head piece can also be used with the Pressure Flow
Master system, which operates on the principle of supplying air from
locations with clean air.
All the light hoods presented in this user manual provide respiratory pro-
tection and face protection against particles with high speed and low
energy impact. In addition, the CA-10 hood also provides chemical re-
sistance. The material of CA-10 is resistant to acids, alkalis, and organic
substances.
If not sure about the suitability of the hood for a specific application,
consult with the manufacturer or your supplier!
2. Limitations on use
1. Never use the hood in the following environments and under the
following conditions:
• If oxygen concentration in the environment is lower than 17 %.
• In oxygen-enriched environments.
• In environments where the user lacks knowledge about the type
of dangerous substances and their concentration.
• In environments that represent an immediate danger to life and
health.
2. If the protection foil is damaged, replace it immediately.
3. The hood does not protect against hard shocks, explosions or corro-
sive substances.
4. Move to a secure location and take appropriate measures when any
of the following problems occur while using the hood:
• If you feel a significant increase in breathing resistance or any
other problems with breathing.
• If you experience stench, irritation or an unpleasant taste while
breathing.
• If you feel unwell or experience nausea.
5. Use certified original filters designed for your powered air purifying
respirator only. Replace filters every time you detect the change of
odour in supplied air from the respirator.
6. Filters designed for capturing solid and liquid particles (particle fil-
ters) do not protect the user against any gases. Filters designed for
capturing gases
do not protect the user against any particles. In the
workplace contaminated with both particles and gases, combined
filters must be used.
7.
The material of the hood can cause allergic reactions to sensitive
persons.
8. Pay attention to check the product before use. Do not use, if any
part of the system is damaged.
9. Don't put the hood on a hot surface.
10. This product is intended for use in environments with a temperature
range of 0 °C to + 60 °C with relative humidity of 20 - 95 % Rh.
3. Cleaning and maintenance
The lifetime of the hood and visors is influenced by many factors such
as cold, heat, chemicals, sunlight or incorrect use. The hood should be
checked on a daily basis of possible damage of its inside or outside the
structure. Careful use and correct maintenance of the protective hood
enhances operating life and improves your safety!
Checking before use:
Inspect that every part of the hood is undamaged and installed correctly.
2
Cleaning:
• After each work shift, clean the head section, check individual parts,
and replace damaged parts.
• Cleaning must be performed in a room with sufficient ventilation. Avoid
inhalation of harmful contaminants settled on individual parts!
• For cleaning, use lukewarm water with soap or another non-abrasive
detergent, and a soft brush (It is not recommended to use other
cleaning agents or solvents).
• After cleaning individual parts with a damp cloth, it is necessary to rub
them dry or let them dry at room temperature.
• For care about the visors and plastic parts is recommended to use the
CleanAIR
klar-pilot Fluids.
® ®
It is necessary to pay more attention to the protection of the
product when using a washing machine or a dishwasher!
When cleaning with acetone or other solvents the product
may get damaged and may lose protection.
Visor protective foils
Hoods are supplied with a foil protecting the visor against damage du-
ring handling and transport. The foil is sewn in the hood and it must be
removed carefully.
A separately supplied foil 0,1 mm thick is designated to protect the
shields of these hoods after the removal of original foil. To attach it to the
shield, the foil is provided with self-adhesive tapes on the sides.
Protective foil replacement:
• Peel off the old foil, wipe the hood visor with a damp cloth to remove
the impurities from it.
• Remove the protective paper from the self-adhesive tape and stick
the foil on the shield.
Headband adjustments
1. Set the depth of the headgear by resetting the top headband. The
ideal position of the headgear is where the sweatband sits slightly
above the level of the eyebrows.
2. Set the headgear so that it fits firmly on your head:
• VariGEAR: by turning the rear wheel.
• Basic headgear: resetting the front headband.
3. Set the optimal distance between the nose and visor to 2 cm. Reset
the position of the rails on both sides of the headgear (see the picto-
rial annex on the end of the manual).
