4. INITIAL SET-UP
4.1 Wiring & connections
If your machine is supplied with a factory fitted molded plug then you may plug the unit into a standard
electrical outlet. Make sure that the voltage of the machine and the wall outlet are compatible.
If your machine is not supplied with a factory fitted molded plug then a certified electrician must be
contracted to wire the unit to the power supply.
Please find the circuit diagram in appendix 3.
4.2 Placement
The appliance must be positioned on a stable, flat surface. Choose a surface where there is no direct
sunlight and is not close to a direct heat source, such as a cooker, oven or radiator.
When positioning the appliance, keep a distance of 10cm (4") between the appliance and walls, or other
objects for ventilation and ease of use.
Position the appliance so that the plug is accessible at all times. Always plug the power cord into a
compatible, grounded socket.
This appliance should be operated between the temperatures of 5 and 40ºC and in an ambient humidity
of maximum 65%.
4.3 Cleaning
Regularly check and clean the appliance, its parts and accessories.
Always switch off and disconnect the power and gas supply before any cleaning or maintenance.
Never use aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents. Do not use solvents or petroleum based cleaning
agents. Some cleaning agents may leave a harmful residue or cause damage to the machine. Use a mild
food-safe cleaning product instead.
Do not use a scourer or any sharp objects during cleaning as this may cause damage to the machine.
Never hose down the machine or immerse it in water or any other liquid. Instead wipe the exterior with
a damp cloth. Do not use a steamer to clean the machine.
Never let the power cable or power plug get wet.
Some potatoes can get stuck between the blade block if there are not enough potatoes in the aluminium
pusher disc drum to push them towards to blade block group.
The feeding hopper should be opened and the blade block group should be removed and cleaned carefully.

The blades are sharp and can cause injury. Anyone who cleans the device should do so carefully
4.4 Installation requirements
POTATO SIZE AND CAPACITY
Potato chipper capacity depends on the size of the appliance's drum cutter.
See diagram in appendix 1 for the maximum potato sizes.
See diagram in appendix 1 for removing the feeding hopper
See diagram in appendix 1 for removing the blade block group.
See diagram in appendix 1 for removing the pusher disc drum.
5. OPERATION
5.1 How to use the appliance
The feeding hopper can hold 47 litres.

Potatoes should never exceed the indicated max size.

Do not use to cut hard materials, such as metal, stones or plastic.

Do not put your hands inside the feeding hopper unless the appliance is off.

Be careful when handling the blade group as it is very sharp.

This appliance should never be operated without a grounded electrical connection.
This appliance should only be operated by someone who has read the instruction manual.
Motor, belt or other technical repairs should only be made by experienced technicians or if instructed
to by an experienced technician.
Ensure that the blade block group is properly mounted and the machine is correctly installed before
operating the appliance.
Place the potatoes inside the feeding hopper.
To activate the appliance, press the start button located on the control panel. This will activate the
pusher drum disc. The disc then pushes the potatoes through the blade block and cuts the potato.

The feeding hopper should never be opened during operation. If the hopper is opened during
operation the machine will automatically stop. The blade block group must be correctly installed
in order for the machine to start.

Keep the control panel away from water.
When the cutting process is finished, the machine can be stopped by pressing the stop button. The
last potato will remain stuck on the blade block.
Ensure that the machine is turned off and disconnect the power supply before removing the last
potato from the blade.
6. MAINTENANCE
Regularly check the power plug and power cable for damage. If either is damaged, do not use the appliance.
Instead, have it repaired by a certified electrician.
Periodic maintenance should be carried out by an experienced technician. It is recommended to carry
out maintenance at least every six months, depending on the frequency of use. Periodic maintenance
conducted by authorized service personnel from Maxima is charged, even the guarantee period has not
expired.
