5.3 Tensioning the saw chain (Fig. 8-10)
1. Slightly slacken the fastening screw for the
chain wheel cover (use the size 13/4mm mul-
tifunction tool).
2. Adjust the tension of the saw chain by using
the multifunction tool size 13/4mm (Item 22)
to turn the chain tensioning screw (Item 1c).
Turning the screw clockwise increases the
chain tension, turning it counter-clockwise
decreases the chain tension. The saw chain
is correctly tensioned if it can be lifted approx.
2 mm in the middle of the cutter rail.
3. Tighten the fastening screw (Item 1d) for the
chain wheel cover (Item 20) (use the size
13/4mm multifunction tool).
Danger! All the chain links must lie properly in the
guide groove of the bar.
Notes on tensioning the chain:
The chain must be properly tensioned to ensure
safe operation. When the saw chain can be raised
by around 2 mm in the middle of the cutter rail,
you know that the chain tension is ideal (Fig. 9).
During cutting, the temperature of the chain rises
and its length changes. It is important therefore to
check the chain tension at least every 10 minutes
and to adjust it again as required. This applies
in particular to new saw chains. When you have
fi nished the job, slacken the chain again as it will
shorten when it cools down. This will help to pre-
vent damage to the chain.
5.4 Saw chain lubrication
Warning! Always disconnect the mains plug
before performing any checks or adjustments. Al-
ways wear protective gloves when working on the
chainsaw to protect yourself against injury.
Important! Never operate the chain if it is not
lubricated with saw chain oil. Use of the chainsaw
without saw chain oil or if the oil level is below
the viewing window will result in damage to the
chainsaw!
Important! Be aware of the temperature condi-
tions: Diff erent lubricants with completely diff erent
viscosities are required at diff erent ambient tem-
peratures. At lower temperatures you will need
low viscosity oils in order to achieve a suffi cient
lubricating fi lm. However, if the same low viscosity
oil is used during the summer it will become even
thinner due to the ambient temperatures alone,
and as a result the lubricating fi lm could break
down, causing the chain to overheat and become

GB
damaged. In addition, the chain oil would burn
and produce unnecessary pollutants.
5.4.1 Filling the oil tank (Fig. 11)
Warning! Fill in the oil outdoors and do not
smoke while fi lling.
Place the chainsaw on a flat surface.
Clean the area around the oil tank cover (Item
19) and then clean the oil tank cover.
Fill the tank (Item 19a) with saw chain oil. In
the process, make sure that no dirt enters
the tank, as this could cause the oil nozzle to
become blocked.
Close the oil tank cover (Item 19).
6. Operation
Please note that the statutory regulations gover-
ning noise abatement may diff er from one loca-
tion to another.
6.1 Using the shoulder strap
Warning! Always use a shoulder strap when wor-
king with the tool. Always switch off the tool before
you release the should strap. Otherwise there is a
risk of injury.
1. Fig. 12: Attach the hooks (Item 5a) of the
shoulder strap fastener to the harness holder
(Item 17).
2. Fig. 13: Place the shoulder strap (Item 5) over
your shoulder and adjust the length of the
strap so that the strap holder is at waist level.
3. Important!
Fig. 14: The shoulder strap is equipped with a
quick release. Press the hooks together (Item
5a) and pull the shoulder strap (Fig. 5) out of
the harness holder if you need to put down
the tool quickly.
6.2 Adjusting the handle (Fig. 15)
Important: Disconnect the power plug before you
adjust the handle.
Push forward the release (Item 18) on the turning
element (Item 8) and turn the handle (Item 4) to
the required position (-90°/-45°/0°/45°/90°).
Make sure that the lock release latches in place
correctly!
