5. Description
The Bypass Smart accessory can be used to select one
of two sources of incoming air supplying the VMI® unit.
This accessory can only be used with a VMI® Purevent
housing.
Source B must be a direct outdoor air inlet.
Source A can be either an air inlet from a solar air heater
or another source of heat or cold. The Bypass Smart is
not considered as a heating or air conditioning system.
Thanks to this accessory, heat or cold can be obtained
from a specific source.
Users can only control the Bypass Smart using the
VMI® Link and VMI® Link PRO applications. These
applications can be downloaded from Google Play
Store (Android) and Apple Store (iOS).
6. Operation
The VMI® Purevent controls the Bypass Smart based
on the following data:
▪ Outside temperature
▪ Temperature of the secondary source of heat/cold
▪ Ambient temperature in the home (indoor T°
measured by the control unit, or the mean value
displayed by all VMI® sensors fitted in the home)
▪ Comfort Threshold (cf. 7. Configuration)
▪ The season for the VMI® Purevent (Summer / Winter
/ Spring/Autumn)
The VMI® Purevent will adapt the position of the
damper based on the above data in order to supply the
VMI® system with one or a combination of the two
sources.
If necessary and if plenty of heat/cold is available, the
Bypass Smart is compatible with an increase in VMI®
Purevent flow (V4 or V5) to get full benefit.
The Bypass Smart limits the temperature of the air
flowing through the VMI® Purevent to +50°C.
Connecting a secondary source of heat
During the summer, the Bypass Smart will be set to
100% direct outdoor air. During the spring, autumn and
winter periods, the Bypass Smart will adapt the position
of the damper to meet needs, depending on
measurement data and the Comfort Threshold. VMI®
Purevent will define the season based on outdoor
temperature measurements.
Connecting to a ground-coupled heat
exchanger
The Bypass Smart will constantly adapt settings based
on the temperature of the sources, measurement data
and the Comfort Threshold, in any season.
