Ensure the prefilled water level in case of all series motor keeping it in upright position
and top up if any loss of volume is found. Motor will be damaged immediately in case
of dry running. To avoid dry running, dry run preventer has to be used.
inSuLATiOn RESiSTAnCE TEST:
To perform this test, first switch off the main power supply. Detach the drop cable
from the control box / starter. Check the insulation resistance by means of a Megger
/ Insulation Tester.
Check the insulation resistance between the drop cable lead and ground. It should be
more than 20 Ω. The motor is ready for coupling with pump.
Check the insulation resistance with the help of a tester / megger to ensure the drop
cable and splice are in good condition.
CABLE JOinTing pROCEduRE:
The cable joint kit consist of the following parts
1. 10 inch long PVC pipe - 1 no.
3. PVC tape
5. Dunlop rubber compound
Strip the outer insulation of both cables and cut the inner insulation of each lead. Slip the
cap and the pipe over the motor cable. Now jin the conductors to form a staggered joint
with a smooth file.
If soldering facility is not avaiable, put the cramping sleeve on the conductor and cramp
it with the help of cramping pliers. Similarly, cramp all the leads. Scrape the insulation of
the cable and the leads to roughen the surface. Clean the surface with a solvent such as
Naptha or lacquer thinner, to prepare a water tight joint.
Using the PVC insulation tape, tape half and inch before the jpint and similarly at the other
end also. Ensure that the tape is stretched each and every time. Apply two more layers of
PVC tape on these joints. Similarly, tape all the leads.
WARNING !
ATTENTION!
Don't use distilled water to fill the motor.
