Spatial Controls
• Balance left/right re-directs the input signal to different output channels in your
loudspeaker setup. For example, adjusting the Balance all the way to the left will
direct the signal to the loudspeakers in your setup that have a speaker role to
the left.
• Fader back/front re-directs the input signal to different output channels in your
loudspeaker setup. For example, adjusting the Fader back/front all the way to
the front will direct the signal to the loudspeakers in your setup that have a
speaker role in the front.
• Surround determines the balance between the frontal sound stage and the
surround information.
• Height determines the levels of the feeds to all loudspeakers in your configuration
with a "height" speaker role. It will have no effect on other loudspeakers in your
system. If the Height control is set to minimum, then no signal will be sent to the
"height" loudspeakers.
• Stage width adjusts the perceived width of the front images in the sound stage.
At a minimum setting, the images will appear to collapse to the centre. At a
maximum setting, the images can appear as wide as the loudspeakers with the
left front and right front speaker roles, depending on their position in the mix.
• Envelopment allows you to set the preferred amount of perceived width or
spaciousness from your loudspeakers with a "surround" or "back" Speaker Role.
At its minimum setting, the surround information will appear to collapse to a
centre back location.
Dynamics Controls
• Compression reduces the dynamic range of audio signals. This is especially
useful when television advertisements are broadcast at a higher sound level than
the programme they interrupt or when movies have large differences in sound
level between the quietest and loudest moments. Increasing compression will
decrease the difference between loud and quiet.
• Bass management allows content to be switched on and re-routed to all
loudspeakers at different levels, depending on their individual capabilities. This
ensures that you not only experience the maximum possible bass capability of
the entire system, but also, due to the spatial distribution of the loudspeakers,
maintain a better control of the resonances in the listening room.
