1. SAFETY NOTES
Caution!
Proper connection and laying shall be carried out exclusively by an electrician! The
applicable VDE regulations shall be observed!
Children and persons with physical, sensory or mental disabilities shall use the
heating cable only whilst professionally supervised.
Observe the safety information and warnings! Keep the safety and warning infor-
mation for any subsequent expansion or for checking the laying of the cable and
pass the instructions on to the person responsible for the regular visual checks.
The gutters should be cleared of any foliage etc. before laying the cable!
Keep the gutters free of foliage and other debris. It may be necessary to fit a leaf
grate to the gutters.
The sheathing of the frost protection heating cable is designed only for contact with
water and shall not come into contact with chemicals, acids or alkalis.
Before laying, check the heating cable for damage, cracks, transport damage or
discolouration in the heating cable sheathing and on the complete device.
Damaged heating cables shall not be laid or connected to the electrical power supply!
Check the voltage and power of the heating cable on the type plate!
The heating cable must be connected to a 230V socket with protective earth con-
tact. This must be protected with a B10 A or B16 A circuit breaker. In addition a 30
mA RCD breaker should also be connected. A combined circuit breaker / RCD with
corresponding triggering characteristics is also possible. The RCD breaker shall
supply only the power circuit for the heating cable.
In each case, the RCDs in the consumer units, in the sub-distribution boxes and the
mains outlets or terminal boxes must be identified with a sticker with warning sign
and information on the exact installation location of the heating cable.
The power circuits with which heating cables are to be operated are to be uniquely
identified in the wiring diagram and in the fuse/breakers lists.
The correct function of the RCD is to be checked at regular intervals with the functi-
on button.
The mains connection plug (230 V) shall not be connected to the mains during the
installation.
The heating cable shall not be shortened and is ready for operation as delivered. It
shall also not be altered in any other way.
No extension cable shall be used in combination with the device.
The heating cable shall not come onto contact with itself of any other heating cable
at any point!
