NOTES
• These instructions serve as brief information and replace no workshop manual. Please always
refer to the vehicle-specific service literature for technical information such as torque values and
instructions for disassembly and assembly.
• Only use the tap with manual force. Using a machine can result in damage to the tap, cylinder
head and personal injury.
• Make sure that no swarf or other contamination get into the combustion chamber or cylinder.
Swarf and dirt in the cylinder can damage the engine.
• Grease the tap before use. The grease applied prevents swarf from falling into the combustion
chamber.
• Always wear safety goggles when using, especially when removing the swarf with a blow gun.
• Clean the thread tap after use.
USE
Applied a small amount of grease on the thread tap.
Ream the old thread with the tap and at the same time cut a new thread for the thread insert.
Make sure that no swarf falls into the combustion chamber.
Turn spark plug (A) into the thread insert (2).
Secure the thread insert with appropriate liquid screw glue.
Use the spark plug to turn the thread insert into the new
thread (C) of the cylinder head (B).
