Location of the detector in the room:
The detector should preferably be attached to the ceiling, in the centre of the room. Otherwise, place it:
– Over 20 cm away from any obstacles (walls,
partitions, beams, etc.).
– Over 60 cm away from any corners in the room.
Should this be impossible, attach the detector to the
wall:
– 15 to 25 cm away from the ceiling.
– Over 60 cm away from any corners in the room.
4. NOT RECOMMENDED LOCATIONS
Do not install the detector:
– Less than 1m away from heating, cooling or ventilation ducts. Any smoke may be drawn away or diluted.
– In places where the temperature may fall below 0 °C or rise above +50 °C, as there would be a risk of the
detector not operating properly.
– In a location where there is a risk of condensation forming. Bathrooms and laundry rooms must be avoided.
– In places such as poorly-ventilated kitchens or garages, where smoke may be released and cause false alarms.
– In places with dust.
5. INSTALLING THE DETECTOR
Now you have read sections 1 to 4, you are ready to install your DF-SOMFY
detector.
– Remove the detector's attachment base by rotating it anticlockwise.
– Place the attachment base in the desired location and mark the two attachment
holes with a pencil.
– Use the 2 screws and the wall plugs provided (5mm drill bit diameter).
– Fix the attachment base securely to the surface.
– Install the battery (see section 6).
– Fix the detector to the attachment base by rotating it clockwise until it locks into
place.
DF-Somfy is fitted with a Safety device that prevents it being locked into
place without a battery.
