5. Apply pressure cap to the adapter as shown.
If testing a safety type cap (ST), lower the lever at this point.
6. Release the pressure valve by rotating the pressure valve release handle clockwise. This seals the tester head to
the lower sealing seat of the adapter neck. You should feel the valve snap into place.
7. Operate the pump until the valve opens and read the gauge. The gauge hand has to be within the proper color
band for the pressure rating of the cap being tested for a half minute. If the pressure falls rapidly (indicating leakage),
reject the pressure cap.
Note: A cap that has been used for some time will probably have a slight impression in the gasket; therefore, if the
required pressure is not reached make sure this isn't caused by a leakage from the gasket. If this is the case, you
should try to apply is several times, until you are sure that the leakage is not caused because of the impression in the
gasket. When the cap is reinstalled in the car, the continuous pressure will reseat the gasket properly.
TESTING THE COOLING SYSTEM
1. Remove the pressure cap cautiously.
2. Check that there is the right amount of coolant in the radiator and overflow bottle.
