2.1 Service life

INFORMATION
As a basic principle, all Ottobock knee joints are subjected to tests invol-
ving three million load cycles. Depending on the amputee's activity this
corresponds to a service life of three to five years.
We recommend carrying out regular safety checks once a year.
3 Alignment (fig. 5)
4 Adjustment of the joints
4.1 Adjusting tension of the extension assist
Spring tension is adjusted by turning the adjustment nut (5) (fig. 6).
Turning clockwise
Turning counterclockwise
4.2 Adjusting the lock mechanism in 3R39
The 3R39 Modular Knee Joint has been factory inspected and set for imme-
diate use. The lock mechanism is adjustable with the screw. For adjustment
a 4 mm Allen wrench should be used (fig. 7).
Turn stop screw clockwise for more play.
Turn stop screw counterclockwise for less play.
Attention!
After adjustment by means of the stop screw has taken place,
make sure that the lock catches and that the joint is reliably
locked. Slight clearance does not result in functional disadvan-
tages.
Note
Use of the 710D1 Torque Wrench is strongly recommended.
Torque of clamping screw: 6 Nm/4.4 ft. lbf./53 lbf. in. (fig. 8)
Torque of adjustment screws 506G3=M6
- in the Tube Adapter 2R41=2:
= increased tension
= decreased tension
7 Nm/5.2 ft.lbf./62 lbf.in.
