• When using your welding machine remember the arc rays shall
not be aimed towards people standing by.
• When soldering, do not touch electricity driving parts such as the
current output tip.
• Do not touch any electricity driving part while connecting into the
power supply. Turn off the switch when finishing welding or when
leaving the work place.
• Do not carry our soldering jobs in sealed containers or when the
container is used to store flammable materials. It can cause an
explosion.
• Use the necessary caution measures to prevent accidents.
• People not related with the soldering job shall not enter the welding
place.
• People using a pacemaker or other similar device susceptible to
electro-magnetism are not permitted to be near the welder. There
could be interference with the normal functioning of the
pacemaker.
• Avoid using the welder to de-ice materials.
WARNING! Since tension is very high inside the welder,
caution measures should be used to prevent accidents.
• Disconnect the power supply before verifying the welder. Take
measures to prevent unexperienced or untrained people to open
the welder.
• The SOT- 225 stick welder is a portable machine. The right
maintenance can guarantee a better operation and will lengthen
the service years. The welder checking and maintenance of shall
be carried out in a Truper® Authorized Service Center. When
the user if facing a special issue, and cannot solve it, they need
to get in touch with us or our representatives to obtain service
or technical support for repairs or spare parts.
• Check the connection to assure the welder input and output cables
are connected correctly, to assure the ground connection is
reliable, etc.
• When using the welder, it shall be operated in its work cycle range.
If the work cycle range is exceeded, the parts will wear out, the
service life will shorten or it will get damaged. If used for long
periods of time, the welder overheating protection mechanism
will activate and you can resume the job when the protection time
is over.
• Maintenance in the welder shall only be carries out by experts
and be sure it is disconnected from the power supply.
• When using the welder outdoor avoid exposing it to rain.
• When using the welder, the cable connector shall be checked
regularly. When it is used in a fixed place, it shall be inspected
once a month. When it is constantly moved to different places,
it shall be checked each use.
• When the welder is not used for long periods of time, store the
welder in a storage facility with good ventilation in environment
free of corrosive or harmful gasses. The storage facility
temperature shall be between -13 ºF, up to +131 ºF Humidity shall
not exceed 90%.
• Do the following in intervals not exceeding six months: Routine
cleansing, checking there are no lose parts in the welder such as
metal accessories, mobile core, current pole adjustment and
connection cable. If there is any problem present it shall be solved
immediately.
Safety measures to take to assure the right installation
and functioning.
• Suspended dust, acid and corrosive materials suspended in the
work place atmosphere shall not exceed the limits established in
the Standard (including the welding process emissions).
• The welder shall be set up where it will not be exposed to sun rays
or rain. It shall be stored in a low-humidity place with a
temperature ranging from 14 ºF, up to + 104 ºF
4
• To have adequate ventilation, the welder shall be set with a 19.6"
free space around.
• Double check there are no metal particles entering the welder.
• There shall not be strong vibrations around the welder area.
• Assure there is no interference with the surrounding area in the
setting up place.
Safety Review.
Verify each of the following points before operation:
• Be sure the welder has a reliable ground connection.
• Check out there is always a solid connection of the input and
output cable (with no short circuit in the output).
• Double check the insulation in the input and output wire is adequate
and the connection is reliable.
Qualified personnel shall carry out regular inspections after setting
up the welder. This inspection shall not exceed 6 months and
must include the following:
1. Routine cleaning and double check there are no abnormal
conditions in the tight parts in the welder. These parts could get
loose due to dust accumulated during use.
2. Check the soldering cable. Look for wear and see it can be used.
3. Check the welder input cable. It shall not be torn or damaged,
otherwise replace it immediately in a Truper® Authorized Service
Center.
4. Assure the power supply is adequate for the welder and that the
input energy protection device is activated.
NOTICE! Close the power supply before opening the
housing during any inspection. Do not hesitate to contact
a Truper® Authorized Service center for technical
assistance when facing hard to solve issues.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

The product is subject to some environmental conditions:
• Environment temperature range: When welding: 14 ºF, up to
+ 104 ºF
Output values specified are with a 68 ºF
Temperatures higher than the work cycle may be reduced.
• During transportation and storage: -13 ºF, up to +131 ºF
• Relative humidity: 104 ºF (50%) up to 68 ºF (90%).
• Dust, acid and corrosive materials suspended in the air in the
work place shall not exceed the limits established in the Standard
(excluding the welding process emissions).
• There shall not be excessive vibration in the work place.
• Keep the welder way from the rain and high temperatures when
working outdoors.
Power supply requirements
• The voltmeter shall deploy a real sine wave.
• The variable in voltage shall not exceed ±10% of the nominated
value.
• Work cycle and overheating protection.
• When choosing soldering parameters, please consider the duty
cycle of the welder. When using a soldering range consider the
duty cycle, if using a higher duty cycle the welder may overheat
and reduce the welder life cycle.
• The working cycle directly affects the welder. When the
temperature inside the welder is above the nominated temperature,
a thermal protector kicks on and cuts the energy stopping the
welder. As soon as the safety temperature lowers, the thermal
protection stops operating and the welder starts working.
