An impact drill enables you to drill into various kinds of material :
plaster, concrete, brick, breeze-blocks, metal, wood, etc. When drilling
using the impact function, the machine makes it easier for you by using
the drill as a hammer. The impact function requires the relevant drill
bits to be used..
A drill can also be used, providing the correct accessories are used, to screw, sand,
polish, mill, brush or mix.
The mechanical speeds, if your machine has them, function like a gear box:
Slow speed = maximum torque (force).
High speed = reduced torque.
Depending on the model, the trigger switch can be fitted with a wheel for adjusting
the chuck rotation speed. This function is very useful for adjusting the speed of the
tool to the material being drilled.
The harder you press the trigger button, the faster the chuck rotates.
The torque adjustment, if your machine is fitted with this, means that you can set the
required torque, by disengaging the motor (stopping the screwdriver function). This
means that you can screw to a uniform depth, without damaging the material you are
screwing into. Very useful for screwing into plasterboard or laminates, for example.
To screw or unscrew, you simply insert into the chuck a screwdriver bit that fits the
shape of the screw
