7. Visual Status Indicator Definitions

Hard drive status indicator :
1. The front hard drive status indicator lights up in blue, the hard drive is on standby.
2. The front hard drive status indicator lights up in red, the hard drive is missing or
malfunctioning.
3. The front hard drive status indicator blinks in blue, the hard drive is reading/writing data.
4. The front hard drive status indicator blinks in purple, data rebuild is in progress.
5. The front hard drive status indicator of newly installed hard drive blinks in red and purple
interchangeably, data rebuild is in progress.
6. The front hard drive status indicator blinks in red and blue, system initialization is processing.
Power indicator:
1. When the power indicator lights in blue, this means the power of the system is on.
2. When the power indicator is off, this means the power of the system is off.
Alarm indicator:
1. The alarm indicator will light up in red if the system temperature exceeds the safety limitation,
the cooling fan fails or the hard drive has not been installed or has failed.
2. When the alarm indicator is off, the system temperature, cooling fan and hard drives are
in the normal state.

Q1. Which drive format should I choose to format the hard drives in the SR4-WBS2?
A : It depends on the computer system you most often use. See the below suggestions:
1. Use NTFS for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/Windows 7 system.
2. Use HFS+ (Mac OS Extended) format for a Mac OS X system.
3. Choose FAT32 format if you'll use the SR4-WBS2 in both Windows and Mac
environments (the maximum size of one single file may not exceed 4 GB).
Q2. Why can't my SR4-WBS2 reach the high transfer performance speed beyond 200 MB/
sec. via e-SATA interface as stated on your website?
A : 1. Please first check if your PCI-E SATA host adapter would only support PCI-E (1X).
This type of host adapters cannot reach the transfer performance speed beyond 140
MB/s.
2. It is recommended to purchase STARDOM SJ20-8x (PCI-E 8X) host adapter to enhance
the transfer speed performance via e-SATA.
