6 Cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization
Possible danger to life of the patient as a result of non-disinfected handling.
All products, including non-sterile products, must be cleaned and disinfected before each (surgical) use.
6.1
Limitations and restrictions on cleaning and disinfection
The product life is essentially determined by wear and possible damage during use.
For this reason, a general specification of maximum cycles is not possible.
6.2
Pre-Treatment at the Application Location prior to Cleaning
Conduct the cleaning and disinfecting of contaminated products as soon as possible after use.
6.3
Preparation before Cleaning
When selecting the cleaning agent used, the material compatibility, suitability and effectiveness for
cleaning medical devices must be taken into account.
The concentrations, temperatures and exposure times specified by the manufacturer of the cleaning agent
and/or disinfectant must be observed.
6.4
Cleaning and Disinfection
6.4.1
Manual Cleaning and Disinfection
The optical areas of the headlights and the face shield must be treated with the utmost caution to avoid
risks. Only authorized cleaning solutions may be used, as there is otherwise a risk of damaging the
equipment and invalidating the warranty.
Ensure that you wipe the equipment with a damp cloth during cleaning and that no parts of the product
are sprayed.
If too much liquid is sprayed onto a cloth or used, it may permeate areas which could lead to damage to
batteries, circuits and optics.
Always remove the mains plug for the headlight before cleaning the product.
When selecting cleaning agents and disinfectants, it is necessary to ensure that they are generally suitable
for the cleaning and disinfection of medical devices made of plastic.
