(4) Use the headgear to secure the mask and the Pedifl ow to the pati ent. To do this, thread the straps of the headgear through the
loops of the holder and secure these using the hook and loop fastener. In doing so, the headgear should not be att ached too fi rmly.
Important note: Headgear
Securing the headgear too ti ghtly leads to deformati on of the pati ent's head.
If the headgear is secured too loosely, adequate fi xati on of the Pedifl ow cannot be ensured.
(5) Secure the two lower hook and loop tapes under the ears and secure the two upper straps above the ears. The strap located on the
top should be positi oned over the head and forehead. Ensure that the straps do not go across the eyes. Do not pull the straps too
ti ghtly; they should only lie gently on the skin.
Important note: Securing the mask
•
Do not pull the bands too ti ght.
•
If the leak is too large, check the mask and the Pedifl ow – pulling the straps more ti ghtly does not by itself defi niti vely
solve the problem.
•
Excessive ti ghtening of the straps can lead to pressure points on the baby's nose or skin.
(6) Positi on the tubing over the baby's head. Two att achment strips are enclosed for this purpose. Then secure the inspirati on and
expirati on tubing to a tube holder and check the positi on of the headgear, the Pedifl ow and the mask once again.
Important note: Securing the inspirati on and expirati on tubing
•
Ensure that the weight of the tubing does not press directly on the Pedifl ow and thus on the pati ent's head, but that it can
instead be relieved using tube holders or the pad.
•
The inspirati on and expirati on tubing must slope away from the pati ent and the Pedifl ow so that any water condensati on
does not come into contact with the pati ent.
(7) Regularly check the CPAP and venti lati on setti ngs and the fi xati on.
Important note: Regular inspecti on of the fi xati on
Regularly check the positi oning and fi xati on of the Pedifl ow and the accessories since pressure points may otherwise develop.
Check the masks regularly for collected secreti ons since there otherwise may be an obstructi on.
4.
Venti lati on devices which can be connected to the Pedifl ow
The Pedifl ow can be connected to any venti lati on device which meets these conditi ons:
•
The venti lati on device must off er a CPAP mode or a non-invasive mode. This mode must:
•
Control the fl ow and pressure such that a constant pressure is achieved in the tubing system
•
Be able to work without an external fl ow sensor
•
Measure the pressure inside the device or at an additi onal T piece in the tubing system
•
Tolerate slight leakages in the tubing system
•
The venti lati on device must be of size F15 or M22 for the inspirati on and expirati on connecti ons, then it can be connected
with the medin tubing sets, or tubing sets for the venti lati on device (inspirati on and expirati on) must be present which
have an M10 connecti on on the side of the Pedifl ow.
Warning: Accessories
The Pedifl ow only functi ons in combinati on with the corresponding mask and headgear, otherwise proper functi on cannot be
guaranteed.
The mask can only be combined with the nCPAP interface Pedifl ow.
5.
Storage and disposal
The Pedifl ow and its accessories must be stored in a clean, dry area.
Temperatures between -30°C and 70°C have no negati ve eff ect on the
Pedifl ow or the accessories.
The Pedifl ow and its accessories can be discarded with normal
household waste.
