Please note: If, when removing the components, the protective
coating on the body panel is damaged, the affected areas must be
protected against corrosion by applying a suitable primer, such as
Permacron 3255.
- 6 -
- Rivet the rivet nuts (C) in the holes in the sill's flange plate. To do this, use riveting tongs
suitable for M8 rivet nuts, e.g. V.A.G. 1765B order no. ASE 451 499 00 000.
- 7 -
- Place the assembled running board (A) in the correct position on the vehicle sill and secure it
using the M8 x 40 bolts (J).
Please note: Do not tighten the bolts.
- 8 -
- Fasten the running board in this position using the blind rivets (L). Use the electrical riveter
for blind rivets to do this.
Please note: Insert the two outer rivets first, then fit the middle
rivet, and then proceed to fit each of the rivets, working your way out
towards the outer rivets, fitting one on the left followed by its
"mirror image" on the right (or vice versa).
- 9 -
- Tighten all M8 x 40 bolts (J) to 25 ± 2 Nm.
- 10 -
- Then tighten the M8 x 18 bolts (H) to 25 ± 2 Nm.
- 11 -
- Unscrew the M8 x 50 adjuster bolts (G) until the shaft protrudes beyond the self-locking nut
(K) by approximately 5 mm.
- 12 -
- Fit the supports (E) onto the shafts of the adjuster bolts (G).
- Position the support (E) over the shaft of the adjuster bolt (G) so that the support clips into
the grooves in the bracket (D).
- 13 -
- Then screw the adjuster bolt (G) until the support (E) is resting firmly against the web plate
on the vehicle sill.
- Then unscrew the adjuster bolt (G) by two further turns and secure it in position by tighten-
ing the self-locking nut (K) in the direction of the bracket (D).
