Probable Cause
Steel too short, too long or too
thin
Dirt or oil of too high a viscosity Disassemble hammer, clean thoroughly; see
Air pressure too low
Filter at air line connection
nipple blocked
Inlet valve, piston or control is
jammed
Piston scored by dirt, sand, rust
Muffler iced up
Handle loose

Solution
Use correct steel – see specifications
recommended lubrication
Test the air pressure just upstream of the hammer
by inserting a pressure gauge, check the air line,
correct any damage.
Clean the filter
Disassemble hammer, check components, clean
thoroughly, lubricate well.
As above, carefully polish out scoring or grooves
on the piston and on the wall of the bore.
Lubricate using de–icer oil via tool lubricator or
line lubricator – see recommended lubrication.
Tighten handle, check seating of retention pin
