• Now turn the wheel to the extent that
the tuberosity of the tibia (protruding
bone at the top end of the shin) is
level with the one on the healthy leg
(Fig. 11 + 12).
• When required and for purely
stabilising purposes, please fasten the
tibia belt
. This must always be the
!
last belt to be fastened (Fig. 13).
• Now move the knee lightly a few times
and check again that your have put the
brace on properly. Make any necessary
corrections (Fig. 14)
• The indicators on the side on the guide
bars may be used as a reference point
for the position of the tibia support.
Setting the flexion / extension limits
Extension limit wedge, silver:
0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°
Flexion limit wedge, black:
0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75°, 90°
Can be immobilised at:
0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°
For immobilising the orthosis first insert
the extension wedge and then the
corresponding flexion wedge. The medial
(inside) and the lateral (outside) wedge
settings must always be the same.
1. 0° extension and 90° flexion wedges
are pre-installed in your knee brace
as standard (In the UK only 10°
extension wedges fitted, remainder
included as spare parts).
2. In order to change the wedges, press
the joint cover on the rear side (see
profile) outwards.
3. You can change the wedges by
removing the tweezers from the
joint cover and pulling the wedges
forwards (extension) or backwards
(flexion) out of the joint using the
tweezers. The wedges are accordingly
labelled with „FLEX" or „EXT" and
the corresponding degree. The
wedges may also be distinguished
by the colour. Extension wedges are
silver, flexion wedges are black. Push
the new wedge from the front side
(extension) or from the back (flexion)
into the joint, so the markings „UP" on
the joint and the wedge are matched
accordingly. Upon proper locking you
will hear a click sound.
4. Move the joints of the orthosis to check
the position of the wedges. Put the
tweezers back into the mounting and
attach the joint covers by hooking the
two noses of the joint cover into the
front side of the joint and then pushing
the cover onto the joint. The cover is
firmly attached if you hear a click sound.
Important notes
Only change the extension and flexion
limits on instruction from your doctor
or orthotist. In order to prevent
hyperextension, always insert extension
wedges or 0° wedges. The wedges define
the exact excursion of the orthosis.
In difficult soft-tissue conditions,
e.g. where the soft-tissues are under
compression, it may be necessary to
insert the larger wedge to limit the joint
movement to the desired excursion. In
addition, make sure that the orthosis
joints are correctly positioned: the
middles of the joints should be level with
the upper border of the patella. The joint
must lie behind the midline of the leg.
Shaping the orthosis
When shaping the orthosis, please
ensure that the joints stay parallel.
This guarantees that the orthosis will
function well and run easily and that
there is no excessive wear.
Care instructions
The brace cannot be worn in saltwater.
If the brace is worn in chlorinated water,
it should be rinsed out thoroughly with
clean water afterwards. Soap residues,
lotions and ointments can cause skin
irritation and material wear.
• Wash the product by hand, preferably
