E Instructions
General information:
1. Play this game together with your cat and place it some-
where, where your cat feels undisturbed.
2. Start when your cat is awake and in playing mood, 1 ½
hours after feeding at the earliest. You can also use the
normal dry feed instead of treats as an alternative.
3. Sit down beside your cat and watch her unobtrusively
and quietly without staring at her.
4. To motivate your cat, choose treats she specially likes to
begin with, and place these in the game in her presence.
5. Help your cat with the task at the beginning to keep her
motivated. It is important for your cat to be successful
fairly quickly so that she connects positive feelings to the
game.
6. In case your cat does not achieve a subgoal after several
tries, help her or repeat a task she can do well and train in
smaller steps. Try to motivate your cat with praise. There
should never be scolding or punishment.
7. Train in small units (max. 10 minutes) and with small
goals. Several training units during the day provide a lot
of small successes and prevent excessive demand on your
cat.

Important notice:

Cats react very differently to new toys. Some are very
motivated to play right from the start while others have
to get used to new things first. They start by ignoring the
new toy but later they play with it excitedly. In addition
to that, there are cats that like to concentrate on a game
for a longer time, while others prefer to play for a short
while only but more often. Whichever way your cat
chooses, give her time to play the game as she likes to do
it.
Have lots of fun and success with your cat!
The training can begin:
1. Twist the lid of the Snack Roll off. Hold the roll with the
inserted rods in a slanted position and arrange the small
openings so that they are facing upwards. Fill the roll
with some treats so that your cat can see and hear clearly
what you are doing (such as cooked or dried pieces of
meat, chopped treat sticks, etc.).
2. Close the lid of the Snack Roll and place it in front of
your cat with the openings facing up. She can smell the
treats along the entire length of the Snack Roll due to the
openings. She can also see them, which acts as another
incentive to occupy herself with the toy.
3. Place a treat between the openings on the top of the
Snack Roll. Wait for your cat to "catch" this treat and eat
it. Now you have awakened your cat's attention. Let the
next treat fall through one of the openings into the

Snack Roll. Now give your cat a few minutes to work
out how she can get to the treats. If your cat appears
impatient and gives up easily, roll the Snack Roll
over to her until one or more treats fall out of the
openings. This enables your cat to finish this round of
playing with a positive experience of the Snack Roll.
4. Take a longer break from playing with the toy to ena-
ble your cat to process the experience. When starting
the next round, help your cat again at the beginning if
she is unsuccessful after a few tries. Gradually reduce
the amount of help given.
5. Once your cat has mastered the technique of rolling,
you can reduce the speed at which the treats are
dispensed and thereby extend the length of the
game. In addition, fill the Snack Roll with inedible,
light objects. Large, washable buttons are particularly
suitable for this. Make absolutely sure that only
the treats can be released through the openings.
Inserting the rods into the Snack Roll additionally
mixes the objects when the toy rolls.
Tip:
A further acoustic incentive can be added by inserting
a squeaking toy mouse or a toy mouse with a bell.
Place the mouse in a suitable, sealable plastic bag.
Place this protected mouse with the treats in the
inside of the Snack Roll. After each round of playing,
the plastic bag must be replaced for reasons of hygie-
ne.
Please remember:
Cats have a short attention span and can easily be-
come frustrated. They require lots of motivation and
frequent success in order to occupy themselves with
something over longer periods of time. Keep playing
sessions with the Snack Roll short, but play more
frequently. This will give your cat great, successful
experiences and together you will have a lot of fun.
