LINE INPUT CONNECTION
Fig. 1 shows the connection between your A/V Amplifier/Receiver subwoofer
output and subwoofer unit line input.
If your A/V device is provided with two separated outputs (namely LEFT and
RIGHT or sometimes SPLIT) then use a pair of shielded phono cable type RCA
jack / RCA jack (Fig 1A).
If your A/V device is provided with only one output (namely MONO) then use a
single shielded phono cable type RCA jack / RCA jack. (Fig 1B).
It is better if connections are kept as short as possible and far apart from main
voltage cables.
Remark
This configuration allows the subwoofer unit to accept the low frequency
signal from the dedicated A/V Amplifier/Receiver subwoofer output, while
your Front Right and Front Left Speakers are normally powered via the A/V
Amplifier/Receiver Main Speakers output. However, it should be said that if
your Front Speakers are truly full-range care must be taken to correctly share
the very low frequencies between them and the subwoofer unit, otherwise
some acoustic power cancellation could take place. On the other hand, if the
Front Speakers are of the bookshelf type there could be a dynamic range
reduction due to their over-powering at very low frequencies. But if your A/V
Amplifier/Receiver is provided with some SPEAKER SELECTION MODE
features you may safely avoid the latter limitation by carefully choosing the
output configuration that conveys the low frequency effects toward the
subwoofer unit.

OPERATING CONTROLS

POWER SWITCH(main).
A power cord is provided separately from the subwoofer unit but in the same
packaging. Use it to connect this unit to your wall main voltage outlet. This unit
can be than switched ON and OFF.
PHASE INVERSION SWITCH.
Mainly due to the acoustical properties of your listening room it is sometimes
necessary to reverse the polarity of the subwoofer unit driver in order to better
match the output of the Front Speakers. If this is the case, make your choice
switching between 0° and 180° position.
The right polarity required by your own layout will be promptly recognized when
you experience a seamless compact sound coming out from the front stage.
FREQUENCY KNOB.
This rotary control let you select the optimum value for the crossover frequency
between the subwoofer unit and your Front Speakers.. Minimum(40Hz) and
maximum (180Hz) are marked: you can find out the right value for your home-
listening layout by successive adjustment and listening evaluation.
VOLUME KNOB.
This rotary control allows you to select the optimum loudness balance between
the subwoofer unit and the Front Speakers. Always increase the output
volume by small steps from low-level towards high-level. In order to keep
enough headroom for the program peaks avoiding also distorsion, never
rotate the knob completely clockwise.
