Preparation:
1. Cover working area with protective sheeting. Place absorbing
materials on the floor.
2. Screw the Injection Valve into the injection channel marked by an
arrow on the Distal Connector with Fiber Braids (Fig. 1).
3. Place the Taping Ring onto the Distal Connector and screw on (Fig. 2).
4. Make two pre-cut lengths of Silicone Insulation Sheet available and
cut according to length of the residuum.
5. Make the Silicone Insulation Cap available for use.
6. Make a plier and side cutter available for use.
7. Examine residuum for bony prominences that require pressure relief
within the final Direct Socket. Select the appropriate Relief Pad(s).
8. Measure the circumferences 4 cm above the distal end and select
same size Casting Liner, or one size above. Place Relief Pads on the
intended place(s) of residual limb (Fig. 3). Roll on the Casting Liner,
maintaining straight alignment between residuum and umbrella
(Fig. 4).
Note: do not stack or use too many Relief Pads. Doing so can
produce an uncomfortable socket and can result in cracks in the
silicone liner.
9. Use Lanyard Cord to examine soft tissue stabilization through the
liner. If unsure, try one size above (Fig. 5).
10. Roll the first length of Silicone Insulation Sheet over the Casting Liner.
Textile layer of Silicone Insulation Sheet must be on the inside,
silicone on the outside (Fig. 6). End just over the umbrella at the
distal end of the Casting Liner. Check for folds and creases, and
smooth out Silicone Insulation Sheet where necessary.
11. Screw on Distal Attachment Pin.
12. Attach the Silicone Insulation Cap (Fig. 7).
13. Roll Fiber Braids back over the Distal Connector. Find the injection
hole on the concave inner side of the Distal Connector. Align to 1
o'clock/ 13:00 h (Fig. 8).
14. Maintain alignment and place Distal Connector on the distal end,
over the Silicone Insulation Cap (Fig. 9).
15. Screw Distal Attachment Nut to Distal Attachment Pin, attaching
Fiber Braids with Distal Connector to the insulated Casting Liner.
Distal Attachment Pin should be flush with Distal Attachment Nut
(Fig. 10).
16. Pull the first layer of Fiber Braids over the Silicone Insulation Sheet.
Pull the second layer of Fiber Braids up over the first layer. Repeat for
all layers. Check for folds and creases, and smooth out fiber braids
where necessary.
17. Mark trimline on the Fiber Braids. Remove Distal Connector with
Fiber Braids and cut along trimline using scissors (Fig. 11).
18. Pull Fiber Braids on again, repeat step 16.
19. Roll on the second length of Silicone Insulation Sheet over the Fiber
Braids. Silicone layer must be on the inside, the textile layer on the
outside (Fig. 12). Check for folds and creases, and smooth out
Silicone Insulation Sheet where necessary.
20. Take the large O-Ring and place it just above the Distal Connector
(Fig. 13).
21. Take the small O-Ring and place it into the groove on the Taping Ring
(Fig. 14).
22. Press out all air captured between the rings while smoothing out any
folds and creases.
23. Tape over the black rubber rings, fixing second layer of Silicone
