8000 Watt* Generator
Verify Engine Oil Level and Add Fuel
NOTICE Be sure you have attached wheels and support leg prior to this
step.
NOTICE Before starting the engine, check oil level and ensure that
engine is serviced as described in the Operator's Manual.
NOTICE DO NOT use unapproved fuel such as E85.
NOTICE DO NOT mix oil in fuel.
NOTICE DO NOT modify engine to run on alternate fuels.
1.
Move generator outdoors to a flat, level surface.
2.
The generator engine is shipped from the factory filled with oil.
Before starting the engine, remove oil fill cap (E) and check oil level.
3.
Replace and fully tighten oil fill cap.
4.
Clean area around fuel fill cap (F), remove cap.
5.
Slowly add unleaded fuel (G) to fuel tank (H). Be careful not to
overfill. Allow abouat 1.5 (4 cm) of tank space (J) for fuel expansion
as shown.
6.
Replace fuel cap, and let any spilled fuel evaporate before starting
engine
Move Generator to
Safe Operating Location
1.
Move generator outdoors to a flat, level surface, in an area that will
not accumulate deadly exhaust gas. DO NOT place generator where
exhaust gas could accumulate and enter inside or be drawn into a
potentially occupied building. Ensure exhaust gas is kept away from
any windows, doors, ventilation intakes, or other openings that can
allow exhaust gas to collect in a confined area. Prevailing winds and
air currents should be taken into consideration when positioning
generator.
2.
To reduce the risk of exhaust heat or exhaust gases igniting nearby
combustible material, keep at least 5 feet (1.5 m) clearance on all
sides of generator, including overhead.
Start Generator
NOTICE Always unplug the battery float charger (h) before starting the
generator.
1.
Make sure unit is on a level surface. Disconnect all electrical loads
from the generator.
2.
Turn the fuel valve (K) to the "On" position.
3.
Push choke lever (L) to "Choke" position.
4.
Push engine rocker switch (M) to "On".
g
k
5.
Start generator using Electric or Manual starting.
Electric Start:
Press and hold START switch (N) for a maximum of 15 seconds. If
d
engine does not start, pause for 1 minute and repeat.
c
Manual Start:
Pull starter rope handle (P) slowly until resistance is felt. Then pull
cord rapidly to overcome compression, prevent kickback, and start
engine.
13
6.
If engine starts, proceed to step 10.
7.
If engine fails to start, proceed to step 8.
8.
Move choke lever to "Half" choke position, and pull recoil handle
twice.
9.
If engine does not start, refer to operator's manual for detailed
starting instructions.
10.
Slowly move choke lever (L) to "Run" position. If engine falters,
a
move choke lever to "Half" choke position until engine runs
smoothly, and then to "Run" position.
Plug in Items to be Powered
b

arc, and burn resulting in death, serious injury, and/or
property damage. ONLY use cords rated for your loads.
Follow all safeties on electrical cords. Inspect cord sets before
each use.
e
q
1.
Let engine stabilize and warm up for a few minutes after starting.
2.
Plug in and turn on the desired 120 Volt and/or 240 Volt AC, single

The 120 Volt AC, 20A duplex receptacles (R) are provided with
"push to reset" circuit breakers (T) to protect the generator against
electrical overload.
4.
The 120/240 Volt AC, 30A locking receptacle (U) is provided with
a rocker switch circuit breaker (V) to protect the generator against
electrical overload.
Shut Down Generator
1.
Turn OFF and unplug all electrical loads from generator panel
receptacles. NEVER start or stop engine with electrical devices
plugged in and turned on.
2.
Let engine run at no-load for several minutes to stabilize internal
temperatures of engine and generator.
3.
Push engine rocker switch (M) to "Off" position.
4.
Move fuel valve (K) to "Off" position.
5.
