Setting the Bind Time
This feature allows you to increase or decrease the total
bind time . You can add up to 15 extra seconds for hard-to-
bind paper . You can also decrease the default bind time by 5
seconds when required .
a . After selecting the BIND TIME menu feature, the default
message is "+00 SECONDS . "
b . You can now adjust the bind-time in five-second increments .
Add time by pressing the EDIT button . Decrease bind time by
pressing the OPEN button .
c . When you have finished modifying the time, press the BIND
button .
d . Insert the correct width strip, and the Fastback® will bind
your document in the amount of time that has been selected .
During binding, the screen briefly displays the changed bind-
time .
NOTE: Unless a certain weight or type of paper is found to
be more difficult to bind, it is not recommended to add or
subtract seconds to the bind time .
Setting the Strip End Position
When you bind a book, the inserted end of the strip aligns with
the edge of your book that is on your left . We'll call this end of
the book the "top" of the book . Occasionally you ll get a strip
that doesn't quite reach the top of your book, or a strip that
goes a little past the top . You can correct this by adjusting the
strip's end position .
a . After selecting the STRIP END feature, the default message is:
b . You can now adjust the strip end in increments of . 0 08 of an
inch .
Pressing the OPEN button shifts the strip to the left; pressing
the EDIT button shifts the strip to the right (figure 11) . In other
words, if you press OPEN, the strip will move towards the top
of the book . If you press EDIT, the strip will move towards the
bottom of the book .
c . When you have finished setting the strip end, press the BIND
button .
d . Insert the correct width strip and begin binding . During
binding, the screen briefly displays the changed strip-end
position .
