The Flocare
existing gastrostomy tube (PEG, G-tube or button). The tube is made of transparent silicone and contains:
- a balloon inflation port indicating the advised balloon filling volume (A)
- a feeding port (ENFit connection with closure cap) (B)
- cm markings on the tube
- a silicone external fixation disc (C)
- a silicone internal retention balloon; advised filling volume is dependent on Charrière size of the tube
and indicated on the balloon inflation port (A)
- a quick release clamp; to prevent backflow of nutrition or other gastric content (D)
- a radiopaque mark near the entrance of the balloon enabling x-ray visibility (E)
The Flocare
Each customer packaging box, contains two Flocare
in a blister.
- Long term tube feeding exceeding the life time of the initially placed gastrostomy tube.
- Stomach decompression.
It is contra-indicated to place or replace a G-tube in case of:
- Non-established or infected stoma site,
- Ascites,
- Peritoneal carcinoma.
1. Position the patient onto their back (fig.1). Check the Charrière size and length of the existing tube.
Apply anaesthetising gel around the tube. Place a gauze under the external fixation disc to prevent
leakage of gastric liquid directly onto the skin.
2. Take the new Flocare
state of the balloon by injecting the indicated amount of sterile water in the balloon inflation port (A)
(fig. 2 and 3).
3. Roll the balloon, while wearing sterile gloves, between the thumb and the index finger to ensure it is
centred on the tube. Deflate the balloon (fig.4).
4. Close the cap of the feeding port (B) (fig.5).
