Upgrading a Model Year 1997 Ford
F-150 Truck
While the front end to the 1997 Ford F-150
headlamp assembly looks similar to more
recent models, the mounting is different. The
modifications below will allow you to fit the
Xenarc X2010 HID Upgrade headlamps into
the vehicle and still allow the original halogen
headlamps to be reinstalled should this become
necessary for any reason.
When removing the existing halogen headlamp,
the lamp-mounting bracket will come out of the
vehicle with the headlamp assembly. After
removing the existing halogen headlamp:
1 Remove lamp bracket from the back of the
halogen headlamp.
• Using long needle nose pliers, squeeze the
round plastic retainer clips on aiming pins
to release the bracket.

• Once all three are loose, set the bracket
aside for later.
2 Swap aiming pins from halogen headlamps
to HID.
• Number or otherwise mark the aiming
pins on the lamps to ensure the pins are

are swapped between lamps.
• Using long needle nosed pliers, squeeze
the retainer clips on the back of the aiming
pins and press them out of the halogen
headlamp assembly.
• Using a socket wrench, partially remove the
retainer screws for the Xenarc X2010 HID
headlamp aiming pins.
i Loosen them enough to remove the pins, but
not all the way to ensure the screws stay in
the same thread.
• Install the aiming pins from the halogen
headlamp in the Xenarc HID headlamp.
3 Modify lamp bracket ,

removing material to allow Xenarc X2010 HID
headlamp enough clearance to fit with some
room for aiming adjustments.
4 Install the Xenarc X2010 HID headlamp in the
lamp bracket.
• Carefully align all three aiming pins so they
align with the "guides" inside the bracket.
• Ensure the retainer clips for all three aiming pins
are fully locked into the bracket before proceeding.
5 Proceed with completing normal installation.
