Quick Start Guide
WARNING Contact with Muffler area can result in
serious burns. DO NOT touch hot parts and
AVOID hot exhaust gases.
WARNING Generator produces hazardous voltage
and current. Contact with live parts can cause
electric shock or burn. DO NOT operate under
wet conditions. Transfer switch MUST be used
when connecting generator to a building's electrical
system.

Move Generator to
Safe Operating Location
1.
Place generator outdoors in an area that will not accumulate deadly
exhaust gas. DO NOT place generator where exhaust gas could
accumulate and enter inside or be drawn into a potentially occupied
building. Ensure exhaust gas is kept away from any windows, doors,
ventilation intakes, or other openings that can allow exhaust gas to
collect in a confined area. Prevailing winds and air currents should
be taken into consideration when positioning generator.
2.
To reduce the risk of exhaust heat or exhaust gases igniting nearby
combustible material, keep at least 5 feet (1.5 m) clearance on all
sides of generator, including overhead.
Start Generator
1.
Make sure unit is on a level surface. Disconnect all electrical loads
from the generator.
NOTICE Failure to start and operate the unit on a level surface will cause
the unit not to start or shut down during operation.
2.
Turn fuel valve (G) to ON position.
3.
Place the engine switch (H) in ON position.
4.
Move the choke lever (J) to the choke position.
5.
Pull starter rope handle (K) slowly until resistance is felt. Then
pull rapidly to overcome compression, prevent kickback and
start engine.
8
6.
Slowly move choke lever (J) to "Run" position. If engine falters, move
choke lever to "Half" choke position until engine runs smoothly, and
then to "Run" position.
NOTICE If engine starts after 3 pulls, but fails to run for more then
10 seconds, check for proper oil level in crankcase. This unit may be
equipped with a low oil protection device. See engine operator's manual.
Connecting Electrical Loads
WARNING: Overloaded electrical cords can overheat, arc, and
burn resulting in death, bodily injury, and/or property
damage. ONLY use cords rated for your loads. Follow all
safeties on electrical cords.
A
1.
Let engine stabilize and warm up for a few minutes after starting.
2.
Connect electrical loads in OFF position, then turn ON for operation.
3.
Plug in and turn on the desired 120 Volt AC (L), single phase, 60 Hz
electrical loads.
9
4.
This 12 volt DC receptacle (M) allows you to recharge a 12 Volt
automotive or utility style storage battery with the battery charge
cable provided.
9
NOTICE This receptacle can not be used to crank an engine having a
discharged battery. See operator's manual before attempting to recharge
a battery.
B
5.
A push-to reset circuit breaker (N) is provided to protect the
receptacle and generator against electrical overload.
6.
Refer to
Do Not Overload Generator section of Operator's Manual.
Stopping the Engine
1.
Turn OFF and unplug all electrical loads from generator panel
receptacles. NEVER start or stop engine with electrical devices
plugged in and turned ON.
2.
Let engine run at no-load for several minutes to stabilize internal
temperatures of engine and generator.
3.
Move engine switch (H) to the "Off" position.
4.
Turn the fuel valve (G) to the "Off" position (fully clockwise).
5.
To prepare for storage, refer to Operator's Manual.
